This is how much fun you could be having if you were to get your 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe tuned by Hennessey to produce 500 horsepower.

We’re used to seeing Hennessey’s projects produce ungodly amounts of power (something at least approaching 1,000 horsepower, which seems to be the general target for Hennessey), but reasonably amounts of power can be fun too. A little over 500 horsepower perhaps?

Sure, that’s probably more power than most of us will ever have for a daily driver, but some of us are lucky enough to have the funds to not only purchase a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV but also take it straight to Hennessey for a tune-up.

It’s not a particularly exhaustive build, mind you. The 6.2-L EcoTec3 V8 already made 420 horsepower in stock form, so all Hennessey has to do is install a 2.9-L supercharger, tune the ECU, and provide a new intercooler to deal with the added heat. Hennessey can easily tweak this build to produce 650 horsepower (or add a few more upgrades to produce 800), but 500 makes it a fine vehicle as a daily driver.

And what better to do with a brand new 500 hp Tahoe than do donuts on Hennessey’s test track?

If this was the RST trim before Hennessey got their mitts on it, then the Tahoe also came with a set of Brembo brakes, magnetic ride control suspension, and a set of 22-inch performance radials. Which we certainly hope Hennessey is willing to replace after doing all those donuts.

A stock Tahoe could also achieve a 0-60 time of just 5.7 seconds. We’re not sure what it can do with 500 horsepower, but we’re sure that it’s at least faster than that.

As usual, Hennessey’s upgrades also come with the usual assortment of badges, plaques, and embroidery on the interior, along with their 3-year/36,000 mile warranty. So long as the new owner doesn’t pull too many donuts, we expect this Tahoe to last him a long time.

And if not, he could always get an 800 horsepower replacement Tahoe.
