Texas-based tuners Hennessey Performance are one of the leading tuning houses in both America and the world. Founded by John Hennessey in 1991, they have gone from strength to strength, specializing mostly in developing and modifying sports cars. SUVs though have recently come in for the Hennessey treatment, including the Jeep Trackhawk. The HPE900 Performance Upgrade for the Trackhawk is one of the company's most fearsome yet, and their Director of Research and Development Jason Haines has taken one example for a final test drive before customer delivery in this video on the Hennessey YouTube channel.

The Trackhawk's Stock Supercharger Is Still Utilized

The HPE900 upgrade utilizes the stock supercharger on the Trackhawk, but the drive system on it has been upgraded. The lower balancer and the upper drive pulley have both been upgraded as well as upgrades to the fuel system and induction system, to name but a few upgrades. That all combines to provide quite a terrifying soundtrack, plus an all-wheel hp figure of around 800 and 900 hp at the crank. The beauty of all this is when driving the car normally, you won’t lose much in the way of fuel economy and the noise will be kept to a minimum.

Trackhawk's Blower Whine Signals Extra Power

The video with Haines driving gives us a great listen to the blower whine as the engine spools up, a sound that would probably scare anyone around you, and yourself as you put your foot down! Haines puts the power of the Trackhawk into context. Back when Hennessey was first set up some 30 years ago, 450-500 hp would get people talking. But here we are in 2021 with a Jeep SUV that produces up to 900 hp at the crank, 800 all-wheel hp and sounds like a Mopar muscle car. It is pretty incredible. And this works on regular pump gas as well.

Hennessey Ensures All Factory Modes Still Work

It is also important to remember that all the factory modes and systems still work despite the extensive Hennessey upgrades. Haines mentions that all the Hennessey packages are designed and tested to make sure that all of those normal functionalities still work. This SUV can still be taken on a long road trip, school run, whatever it may be, but you have that hefty Hennessey upgrade that lets everyone know your Trackhawk is just a little cooler than the rest. Oh, and Hennessey also offers an HPE1000 upgrade for the Trackhawk, just in case 900 hp wasn’t enough!
