The title of the most powerful stock muscle car doesn’t belong to the Dodge SRT Challenger Hellcat Redeye anymore, as it has been eclipsed by the Dodge SRT Challenger Super Stock. As the name says, it's stock and yet super. However, should an SRT Challenger Super Stock owner decide to take its power to another level, he or she can approach Hennessey Performance Engineering for a yummy upgrade.

Upgrading The Most Potent Stock Muscle Car

It's not enough to say that the SRT Challenger Super Stock is a truly potent car. While having the same engine as the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, the SRT Challenger Super Stock offers greater output, as backed by a final drive ratio of 3.09, high-performance suspension, and 18-inch drag radials. As per Dodge, the Super Stock can sprint from a standstill to 60 mph in 3.25 seconds and complete the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds.

Hennessey, however, offers to unlock more. Although the performance firm didn't say what the HPE1000 upgrade entails for the SRT Challenger Super Stock, it's safe to assume that it's similar to what it has been doing to Dodge, Jeep and RAM vehicles. The closest thing to the HPE1000 SRT Challenger Super Stock upgrade would be the HPE1000 Challenger Hellcat Redeye enhancement.

Dyno Numbers Point To Potent Performance

As tested on the dyno by Hennessey, an unenhanced Super Stock produced a baseline power of 700 hp and 648 lb-ft of torque, as measured on the rear wheels (rw). These figures already trimmed drivetrain power loss as they're measured on the wheels; this means they are just as Dodge advertised at 807 hp and 707 lb-ft of torque.

The HPE1000 Challenger Hellcat Redeye boasts 1,012 brake horsepower (bhp) and 969 lb-ft of peak torque. We could assume that these would be -- more or less -- Hennessey's numbers for the HPE1000 Super Stock. If that's so, then the 810 hp (rw) and 732 lb-ft (rw) of torque logged on the dyno is in line with Hennessey's target for the HPE1000 Super Stock.

The considerable increase of 110 hp (rw) and 84 lb-ft (rw) is briefly demonstrated when the HPE1000 Super Stock – Hennessey's very first example -- was taken for a spin. Its movement looks more dynamic as it drives on the track while the roaring engine sound is just pure pleasure to the ear.
