Texas-based specialty car manufacturer, tuner, and customizer, Hennessey Performance Engineering, was the brainchild of hot rodder and company founder John Hennessey. Founded almost 30 years ago, they've been cranking out modded Corvettes, Lamborghinis, McLarens, Ford GTs, and others with over 1,000 hp. Hennessey is also responsible for the bespoke Venom GT based on the Lotus Exige which blasted all the way up to a record breaking 270 mph in 2014. Since then he's had his eye on going even faster. The recent run of 304 mph by a specially prepared Bugatti Chiron Longtail has only hardened his resolve to bring the title of World's Fastest Car back to the states.

How does Hennessey plan to do that? With the Venom F5. Unlike the Venom GT which was based on a stretched and thoroughly massaged Lotus, the F5 is all Hennessey. With a beautifully sculpted body made of carbon fiber, a space age chassis, and a low CD to cut through the air, Hennessey is ready to take on Bugatti.

Under The Hood

But it's what's under the hood that counts. Based on a 6.6 liter Chevy LS V-8 with lightweight forged internals and twin turbochargers, the aptly named "Fury" motor generates 1,800 hp and over 1,000 lb.-ft. of torque available from 2,000 to 8,000 rpm. The rest of the motor is similarly trick with a billet intake system, titanium valvetrain, billet hydraulic roller cam, and a titanium exhaust. Give the video above a look, it's mind blowing!

Going Forward

There's no word yet on when Hennessey plans to make his speed run but he's presently scouting locations in the U.S., and hopefully close to home in the State of Texas. He also tipped his hat to Bugatti showing him that, yes, there are tires that can handle 300 mph. Production will be limited to just 26 examples with pricing details to be announced but expect it to cost several million apiece. Buckle up, John.
