Hennessey Unveils VelociRaptor Ranger With Bigger Tires And More Power

Hennessey has unveiled their new Ford Ranger upgrade with bigger tires and a whole lot of oomph.

Ford recently brought back the Ranger midsize pickup after a 7-year hiatus. What we got was a delightfully compact truck with a 2.3-L EcoBoost turbo 4-cylinder with 270 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque.

What we did not get, however, was the Ford Ranger Raptor, the high-performance version of the Ranger that Ford sells in regions where the F-150 Raptor wouldn’t do so well.

We thought that was a shame since everyone deserves a pint-sized pickup with loads of power. And Hennessey seems to agree with us.

That’s why they’ve created the 2019 Hennessey VelociRaptor Ford Ranger. It takes everything that we love in the Ranger and just dials it in a little bit to create what is likely the best mid-size pickup that money can buy.

We start with the engine, which remains the 2.3-L turbo 4-banger, but has been given some ECU tweaks, a new high-flow air induction system, and a stainless steel catback exhaust. All these swaps combine to boost power to 350 horses and torque to 385 lb-ft. Zero to sixty drops from 7.4 seconds on the original to just 6.1 seconds, which is very nearly as fast its bigger brother, the F-150 Raptor.

A Stage 1 suspension lift adds 4-inches to the Ranger’s stance, while 17-inch alloy wheels are wrapped in big BF Goodrich all-terrain tires to give the VelociRaptor Ranger some real off-road chops.

Also included is a new VelociRaptor front bumper with integrated skid plate and LED lights, a LED roof-mounted light bar, a big chunky fender flares that widen the Ranger by an inch on either side.

As usual, Hennessey includes the usual assortment of badges and numbered plaques to remind you of who gave you this awe-inspiring truck.

The price is reasonable too. Starting at $64,950, which includes the price of the Ranger, you get a fully-loaded pickup and a 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty. Or you can supply your own Ranger and pay just $19,950 for the upgrade package alone.

Only 500 VelociRaptor Rangers will be built for 2019, so call now to reserve yours today.
