There are certain cars out there that you're unlikely to ever see in the flesh if production runs are super limited and list prices are incredibly high. You'll probably think of hypercars like the Bugatti Chiron or the Koenigsegg Regera here, and for good reason; both are about as rare and exclusive as it gets.

But, in terms of rarity, there is another hypercar that's even more limited than the previous examples, and that is the Hennessey Venom GT. You see, only 29 were ever produced, meaning the chances of you ever seeing one with your own eyes are, sadly, very unlikely. Luckily, though, there is plenty of footage out there if you want to get a closer look at the Hennessey Venom GT, as this YouTube clip gladly shows.

Anyway, on that note, let's watch the Hennessey Venom GT hitting the road with ferocious power.

You're probably expecting a car like the Hennessey Venom GT — with its 6.2-liter, Corvette ZR1-derived V8 that develops 1244 HP — to sound good. And you'd be right, as the above video shows.

Admittedly, the person behind the wheel isn't giving the Venom GT full throttle, but then again, the car is partially being driven on public roads, and with that much power available, this is to be expected. If the driver was on a track, though, they could reach sixty from a standstill in a mind-boggling 2.7 seconds and continue on to a verified top speed of 270.49 MPH — though this is, in fact, estimated to be 278, according to Hennessey.

Even more impressive still, though, is the speed at which the Venom GT can relentlessly accelerate prior to maxing out at that insane top speed. Try 0-100 in 5.6 seconds — a speed that would be considered quick for even 0-60 — 186 MPH in 13.63 seconds, a Guinness World Record figure, and 200 MPH in 14.51 seconds.

The Hennessey Venom GT gives off a recognizable vibe right away in terms of its styling, especially when you're looking at it from the front, as outlined in the video attached. And that's because it's heavily based on the Lotus Exige — a feather lightweight, British-made sports car — which would provide the perfect platform for throwing a 1,244 HP V8 in.

The idea for this started out as a bit jest at first, with company founder, John Hennessey, joking that they should place the Venom 1000 twin-turbo engine in the back of a Lotus Exige. This was enough to plant the seed for the idea, though, and once sketches had been made, there was no looking back.

The result was a car that was lightweight, mid-engined — inspired by the Ford GT, to give better traction — and had as much downforce as was possible, so to ensure the car handled like a go-kart on both the roads and track. Chuck in a twin-turbocharged unit with 1,244 HP, then, and you've got yourself something really, really serious.
