General Motors' Cadillac saw the last of its CTS-V high-performance sedan leave the production line in 2019 as the 2020 model. Considered one of the most potent Cadillacs so far, the CTS-V is a mouth-watering four-door combination of dynamism and luxury. Nonetheless, performance firms such as Hennessey Performance Engineering offer to up the tempo every time a CTS-V parades the streets.
Hennessey could bring the horses up to four digits with the HPE1000 Supercharged Engine Upgrade, and the CTS-V (from 2016 to 2020 model years) could become quicker with a better-sounding growl from its V8 engine.
Cadillac CTS-V: A Supercar In Luxury Sedan Form
In its stock form, the CTS-V is already a supercar in sedan form. It's also called a four-door Corvette, simply because it borrows the 6.2-liter LT4 supercharged gasoline V8 engine of the Corvette C7 Z06 (in a weaker form). In the CTS-V, the V8 engine is able to provide up to 640 hp of max output and 630 lb-ft of peak torque.
It's maybe a luxury sedan, but thanks to the powerful V8 engine under the hood, the Cadillac CTS-V can zoom from nil to 60 mph in around 3.6 seconds. Coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission, the CTS-V can go as fast as 200 mph.
Bumping Figures With HPE1000 Supercharged Engine Upgrade
Hennessey's HPE1000 Supercharged Engine Upgrade for the 2016-2020 Cadillac CTS-V, meanwhile, offers to bump those figures up to 1,000 hp of max output and 966 lb-ft of peak torque. The performance figures also went up: the CTS-V can now dash from zero to 60 mph in just 2.7 seconds and reach the quarter mile in 10.1 seconds at 135 mph.
The upgrade basically includes the installation of a High-Flow Supercharger System, custom HPE camshaft, ported cylinder heads, and long-tube stainless steel headers. Hennessey upgraded the automatic transmission, valve springs and retainers, intake valves and exhaust valves, as well as the TCM Software Upgrade.
A high-flow system was also installed and goodies such as serial-numbered dash and engine plaques, with Hennessey exterior badging and Hennessey premium floormats.
Creating Sweet Roars On The Road
As seen in the video, the upgrade is really worth it. The Cadillac CTS-V delivers a sweet roar every time the driver pushes it during testing at Pennzoil Proving Grounds. More than the sound, the CTS-V appears to be quicker, especially as it now dons the Hennessey badge.
