Insurify’s data science team searched through a database of over 4 million car insurance applications to determine which models had the most accidents. In particular, they look for drivers who reported an at-fault accident in a certain car model. Then, they compared it with total numbers of drivers of that certain model to determine the percentage of drivers with at least one prior accident on record. The search covered records in the past seven years.

According to Insurify, around 10.78% of drivers in the United States reported being at fault in a vehicle accident within the past seven years. Only around 6.68% of drivers reported not at fault in the crashes they were involved. Not surprising, five of the top 10 models with the most at-fault accidents are sports cars. Only 15.44% of these sports car drivers reported causing the accident.
