Things are moving quickly in Volkswagen as the German automaker has already released a series of new vehicles on the Group's MQB A0 platform, such as the Volkswagen Polo and the SEAT Ibiza. The good news for its Czech counterpart, Skoda, is that it has unveiled the first teaser image of the fourth-generation Skoda Fabia.

According to Autocar, Skoda claims the conversion to the new platform will result in the Fabia growing in all dimensions. This means that there will be more room for passengers on board and that the trunk will be 50 liters bigger than the 330 liters available right now. More interior space is always a good quality when it comes to competing with other car giants.

It has been clarified that a wagon version will be manufactured in the future, but realistically it will not be released until the end of 2022 or early 2023.

Furthermore, the Czech car brand has stated that it will be the tiniest but cheapest model on offer once it goes on sale a couple of months after its official reveal in the spring.

Fortunately, there are many other features about the new Skoda Fabia that have been exposed so far.

Let us find out everything that we know about the upcoming Skoda car so far.

If anyone is familiar with what the current Volkswagen Polo and the SEAT Ibiza are like, then they will realize that both cars share several key features regarding technology, switchgear, and engines. Because the new Fabia will sit on Volkswagen's MQB A0 platform, the new Skoda vehicle will be no different from its Volkswagen and SEAT siblings. This is a sure sign that the Volkswagen family is becoming increasingly integrated.

Automakers are currently competing with each other to provide potential customers with the best electric or hybrid cars, and Skoda will be offering the Fabia with a gasoline engine only. Mild-hybrid assistance could be available in the future. Car Buyer believes that full hybrid or electric versions are never going to be produced, but the Czech auto giant intends to price the new Fabia competitively compared to its rivals.

The MPI petrol engine that goes up to 70 bhp will probably be abandoned in the UK, but a turbocharged TSI 1.0-liter unit will be available. Customers will be able to choose from 94 bhp or 108 bhp. Motor 1 reckons that it should be good for 110 hp and 200 Newton-meters of torque.

Another component that drivers can opt for is a dual-clutch DSG automatic gearbox. If the above engine outputs are not good enough for some people, don't be disheartened - there is the possibility that Volkswagen's 148 bhp 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine may make its way into higher-spec versions.

There is an eye-catching and distinguished grille at the front of the 2021 Skoda Fabia and  headlights. Considering many of us can remember a time when Skoda vehicles were the laughing stock of the automotive world, the Czech carmaker has come a long way since they started to change the way they designed their cars in the last decade, and it has paid off with this new Fabia.

Skoda has worked hard to try and hide some styling changes to the new Fabia, like the newly-shaped taillights, but they have failed to do so because they are so obvious. The boot shutline has light clusters split across it as well as angled LED headlights. There is also a rear windscreen.

Regarding the Skoda Fabia's interior, standard equipment includes a possible eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, and higher-spec versions are going to receive a 9.2-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto may be included on all three trims. Skoda cars are known for their MIB 3.0 infotainment technology that will no doubt be featured in the new Fabia.

But the interior of the new Fabia will benefit from Skoda's decision to convert its latest car to Volkswagen's MQB A0 platform. For example, drivers who like no engine noise whilst cruising in their cars will be thrilled to hear that there is noise insulation and the best soundproofing a Skoda vehicle has had so far.

Volkswagen's sister brand has made a wise decision converting its new Fabia to the German carmaker's MQB A0 platform. It is apparent that Skoda's latest vehicle is going to benefit tremendously from the Czech automaker's choice as it will be equipped with the platform's most reliable components for cars. With more details about the Fabia due to come out soon, it is an exciting time for Skoda.
