The Chrysler 300 was first introduced in 2005, and now it comes in its 22nd iteration. Even 20 years later, it continues to ride on the LX-based platform. The vehicle is one of the best when it comes to cabin space and comfort, but the design seems to be aging a bit. The 300 is one of the icons of the muscle car world with its fantastic V8 and the SRT trim, and Chrysler is trying to get the 300 back to its glory days with the new 2022 model.

The Chrysler 300 has not been given any dramatic facelift or a new engine altogether, but the design has been tweaked and brought up to modern-day standards. Perhaps the most notable change of them is that all 2022 models come standard with a new N95 cabin air filter and the Comfort Group package, which is available on the Touring L and 300S models and now includes a security alarm.

For 2022, the 300 is being offered in just three trim levels: Touring, Touring S, and the 300 S. All these trims have RWD as standard and AWD as optional. What is worth noting is that AWD is not available in the Hemi V8 to preserve the good old charm of a muscle car. The 300 S looks the sportiest and features bigger wheels and black accents throughout. The Touring L model packs plenty of luxury features at a reasonable price. The lower two trims are offered with a 3.6-liter V6 engine, while the 300 S trim comes with a Hemi V8.

The Chrysler 300 starts at $35,140 for the base spec Touring trim. For the Touring L trim, one needs to shell out $38,340, and if one is looking for some thrill and outright performance, the 300 S trim can be theirs at $43,750. The comfort package mentioned previously is priced at $1,995. The vehicle can also be equipped with an AWD system for an additional $2,750.

The vehicle is offered with two different engine options, a V6 and a V8. The 3.6 liter V6 produces 292 HP and can power the car from 0 to 60 MPH in under 6.3 seconds, which is a decent number. The Hemi V8, however, produces 363 HP and does 0 to 60 MPH in under 5.3 seconds, which is blisteringly quick because the vehicle weighs in at 4,089 lbs. The ride of the 300 is plush and comfortable and absorbs most of the undulations on the roads; it is only the sharpest of bumps that filter through the cabin.

The ride quality is substantial on the default 19-inch wheels, but it feels stiff on the 20-inch wheels, which come with the 300S trim. The suspension on the 300S is also stiff, gives the chassis a playful nature, and makes the car feel a bit more enjoyable. Because of the stiff suspension, the body roll is also well contained at the corners. All the engines are mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which has quick shifts and can hold on to gear at higher RPM if one feels the need. They can even take manual control over the vehicle and enjoy the thrill of driving. The fuel efficiency figures for the V6 motor are 30 MPG combined in the city and on the highway. The V8, on the other hand, is thirsty for fuel as it delivers 19 MPG combined.

Chrysler has not made any dramatic changes to the interior or the exterior of the vehicle. That is something the 300 may need the most as the design feels dated compared to its competition. However, what Chrysler has done is taken off a few things from the previous model year. The exterior was previously offered in 9 color options, and now it is down to only 6; the Canyon sunset, Amethyst, and Ocean Blue color options have now been discontinued. The Smoke and Radar Red color have been discontinued on the interior front. While a lot is being taken away, a few things have been added to the mix, too.

The new air filtration system is standard on all trims of the 300. As per Chrysler, it filters out 95% of air particulates reducing many types of solid, liquid, and airborne matter making it one of the cleanest Chrysler cabins ever. The 300S features U connect navigation, nine-speaker premium Alpine stereo, Nappa Leather with heated sports bucket seats, and a dual-pane panoramic sunroof. The 300 Touring L adds a new sports appearance package with blacked-out exterior bots, 20-inch alloy wheels, and premium LED fog lamps.

The Chrysler 300 has been around for a long time now, and the vehicle seems to fall behind in terms of tech and looks compared to the competition. While every other manufacturer is chasing efficiency numbers, Chrysler is still pushing the Hemi V8 into the 300 showing its urge to keep giving people a true performance machine, which makes the Chrysler 300 special for the year 2022.
