Jeep Wrangler Sahara Performance And Off-Road Specs

The Wrangler Sahara features a standard Command-Trac system that allows bold 4WD maneuverability with a 2.72:1 low range ratio, locking differentials, and Wrangler standard gas shocks. The command-Trac system allows power to be channeled through all wheels in the event that the vehicle comes across loose surfaces. Once engaged, the transfer case delivers a balanced 50-50 torque to both the front and rear axles, and this combined with the lock differentials is what makes the Jeep Wrangler such an unstoppable 4x4.

The Wrangler Sahara is also equipped with brake lock differentials which are adaptive in 4 wheel drive-high(4H) to enhance traction control for rock crawling or to maneuver through severely off-road terrain. Brake lock differential controls the wheel speed on both axles providing improved traction capabilities similar to a locking differential but does not require a change in driving style thus greatly combining the off-road capabilities for the Jeep Wrangler Sahara. Unlike many four-wheel-drive units, the Jeep’s 4WD system features a neutral mode that allows it to be towed without uncoupling the drive shafts.

The available trac lok limited-slip differential provides a constant driving force to both rear wheels and reduces the wheel spin caused by loss of traction on one wheel. If traction differs between the two wheels, the differential automatically proportions the usable torque by providing more torque to the wheel with better traction.

The trac lok is always active and works independently with brake lock differential and can transfer up to 2.7 times the amount of torque across the wheels offering a smoother transmission of power across terrains like gravel, sand, or when the torque bias is not as high as one wheel completely off the ground. The brake lock differentials automatically kick in if the torque bias is higher than the trac lok can handle.

The Unlimited Saharas power train features a standard 3.6-liter V6 engine available in both 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmission. Aside from the diesel, the Sahara is also available as a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (270 hp, 295 lb-ft) automatic trim.

The 2.0-liter and the 3.6-liter are combined with an eTorque mild-hybrid system in the Sahara that improves fuel economy without sacrificing power torque or capability though the perfect balance between efficiency and torque is demonstrated by the 3.0-liter diesel with 260 hp and 422 lb-ft of torque and is only available in automatic.

The Sahara Unlimited's Interior

The Jeep Wrangler Sahara features a generally more luxurious and stylish interior compared to other lower Wrangler trims. Optional packages include a slick granite trim and leather-trimmed seats with the Sahara logo which aren't available on the Sport or the Sport S issues.

The unlimited Sahara also features a slightly better-looking, leather-wrapped, heated steering wheel, and an electronic infotainment display. Beyond that, there is a premium sound system with high-definition speakers attached to the roof of the car as opposed to being present on the doors mainly because of the detachable nature of the Wrangler’s doors.

Thanks to the Sahara’s in-car sensors, the vehicle also accommodates an adaptive climate control system with a/c vents on both the front and the rear, that act to regulate interior conditions for the vehicle without the driver having to worry about manual control. Remote ignition and keyless entry are optional trims as well, allowing you to walk up to the vehicle and unlock its front doors without touching the keys or start the engine from outside the Wrangler just to add on a couple of creature comforts to the Wrangler Sahara unlimited experience.

In a nutshell, the exterior of the Wrangler Sahara Unlimited is relatively more aesthetically pleasing compared to previous Wrangler trims. From LED light kits to fender flares that are lower compared to the rubicon trim, with the fenders that match the rest of the body’s color. The stock plastic front bumper features silver accents surrounding the grille and around the headlights, fog lights, and wheels reminiscent of the interior to mimic its exterior.

The Sahara features a Forward-facing off-road ‘TrailCam’, and a backup camera to improve visibility. The TrailCam acts as an extra set of eyes displaying to the driver objects within two and ten feet away removing the close proximity blindspot directly under the vehicle during off-roading allowing the driver to maneuver in the best way possible. The Sahara’s dimensions are 188.4 inches in total length, 73.8 inches wide, and a height of 73.6 inches. The standard alloy wheels are 18-inches with the car's gross weight totaling 5,500 lbs.

The Jeep Wrangler Sahara is available from around $40,000 as a standard four-door SUV demonstrating the perfect balance between comfort, utility, convenience, and fun.
