Last night must have been a rough one for American DJ Marshmello, who witnessed a police high speed chase from a personal standpoint as it involved his very own 6x6 Ford truck. The vehicle had extensive custom work done on it with the help of Heavy D and Diesel Dave, who are famous for the Diesel Brothers TV show on Discovery Channel. Now, thanks to Instagram, Heavy D has shed light on how he got wind of the stolen vehicle and his thoughts surrounding the mind-boggling incident.
There’s No Such Thing As Bad Publicity
Revealed in an Instagram post on Heavy D's account, the truck builder remarks that he found out about the stolen vehicle – to which he personally worked on with partner and co-host Diesel Dave – from a text message. Apparently DJ Marshmello, whom Heavy D refers to as his “homie/client,” informed him that the truck had been stolen and was part of a high speed chase. Without a doubt, this prompted the truck builder to flip on the telly and tune into what was probably a very surreal viewing experience seeing his own creation involved in a real-time vehicular hot pursuit.
Not only did Heavy D seem entertained by the footage, calling it “pretty wild for a minute there when they couldn’t stop it,” but also took advantage of the opportunity to promote the build. Not one to miss out on a perfect sales opportunity, Heavy D closed with a note intended for any potential buyers who might be reading: "Give us a call if you want one of these beasts for yourself.”
The Story Behind The Stolen "Velociraptor Killer"
Dubbed the “VelociRaptor Killer” in a social media post back when the Diesel Brothers first delivered the truck to DJ Marshmello – referencing Hennessey’s very own VelociRaptor 6x6 – the truck was in for servicing at a dealership before the suspect stole the vehicle. LA Police report in a story by CBS News that the suspect arrived to the dealership on a bicycle before driving off with the vehicle, traveling from Van Nuys through Malibu and ending up in Valley Glen. Footage shows the truck hitting a street light pole shortly before police apprehended the suspect.
