One of the earliest electric luxury SUVs ever made is back at it again. Tesla has delivered excellent electric vehicles from the get-go; its all-new luxury SUV is no exception. The Tesla Model X is one of the first fully electric SUVs in Tesla's fleet.

The 2022 Tesla Model X Plaid uses the same tri-motor Plaid powertrain that drives the Model S Plaid. The Model X has always been a more practical version of the Model S. It might not be as agile as the Model S, but it sure is fast, considering it is a beefy SUV.

Tesla claims the 2022 Tesla Model X is the most powerful SUV on the market, with acceleration quicker than any other SUV. Tesla brings out its A Game with the highest-performing SUV ever built, which delivers instant torque at any speed.

Insane Acceleration For A Six-Seater SUV

A video uploaded to the Vehicle Virgins YouTube channel starts off by displaying the iconic body of the Tesla Model X, showing off its unique Falcon-Wing doors. As we get a look at the interior of the SUV, we lay our eyes on the unique yoke-style steering controller and the digital gauge display. In the new Model X, we have updated interior and exterior styling. Tesla also upgraded the tires to deliver better handling and ride quality. These new tires also complement the body for an overall updated look. Exterior design combines an iconic look with elegant proportions.

We have two electric motors driving the base Model X on the performance front, one in the front axle and another at the rear. The high-performance Model X Plaid delivers an astounding 1020-hp operating on three motors. Both, of course, are capable of all-wheel driving.

Tesla claims that the Model X Plaid goes from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds. Here in the video, we see it achieve this feat in 2.74 seconds, varying by just a fraction of a second. The Model X Plaid accelerates brutally, reaching 0-150 mph in just 10.38 seconds, which further separates into 60-130 mph in 5.12 seconds, and 100-150 mph in 5.25 seconds. The mammoth SUV finishes the quarter-mile in 9.83 seconds at a speed of 146.68 mph.

How Does The Tesla Model X Plaid Fare Against Other SUVs?

Tesla might as well just come out saying that this is the best SUV one can get their hands on, and maybe they just did. One look at their website, and Tesla's opening line is "Model X Plaid is the highest performing SUV ever."

Tesla redesigned the Model X to give it the lowest drag coefficient of any SUV; add to it the platform and drivetrain of the Tesla Model S. With the outstanding aerodynamics and such immense power, this is one of the fastest accelerating SUVs out there.

The 2022 Model X also outperforms almost all its competitors. The Model X boasts the highest MPGe ratings from the EPA. Even the Model X Plaid, which sacrifices a part efficiency for higher performance, still beats the likes of Audi e-Tron and Jaguar I-pace.
