Dodge has been on the front line of muscle cars for generations now. One such car was the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. One of the fastest muscle cars, the Demon brutally took apart its opponents on drag strips and performed wheelies while at it. The Demon was an upgrade from the Hellcat. Gearheads went crazy when a firm such as Dodge made the Hellcat even faster. Dodge almost switched the whole Hellcat out part by part if we look into it.

Dishing out a roaring 840 hp, using the 6.2-liter V8 engine with a 2.7-liter supercharger, the Demon had all the other pony cars beat. Even after all these years, we have gearheads going gaga over this beast of a car. A few years back, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon obliterated all standing in its way.

The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon had the same foundation for the engine as the Hellcat. The Demon's engine had 97 additional parts, and Dodge even had to machine it differently. Dodge upgraded the Demon with a more prominent, mighty 2.7-liter supercharger. Other changes were new connecting rods, new pistons, a new crankshaft, a new valvetrain, and a new steel camshaft.

Dodge pulled out all the tricks to beef the engine up to handle the extra output, and it worked. We went from 707 horses and 650 lb-ft of torque in the Hellcat to 808 horses and 717 lb-ft of torque in the Demon. We get this performance when the Demon is running on 91 octane gas. Switch it to 100-plus high-octane race fuel, and the Demon dishes out a ludicrous 840 hp and 770 lb-ft of torque. Dodge also had to change the software of the eight-speed automatic transmission to provide a transbrake function to help launch this beast on the drag strip.

The Demon recorded some neat figures when taken out for a spin. It went from zero to 60 mph in 2.1 seconds, enough to beat the Tesla Model S, then on a stickier surface. This beast covered the quarter-mile in 9.65 seconds at 140 mph, and that was enough to get the Demon banned from racing on a track without a roll cage. The Demon leaves the start line at a claimed 1.8 g's, hitting 30 mph in just a second.

On the inside, the Demon resembled the other Dodge Challengers. But, like in all other race cars, they stripped the car down to the boots. Dodge dumped the passenger-side seats, the rear bench, and the speaker. Dodge got rid of the trunk trim, saving a few more pounds. The Demon got the 18-inch wheels instead of the 20-inch ones to shave more pounds off the car. Even the front brakes were shrunken down.

The customers could opt for the tamer package and get all the comforts and luxuries. Those who wanted to keep the seats to take their passengers for hellish rides could have them for $1. The Demon also received a new hood with a bigger scoop. Dodge had to hollow out the innermost driver's side headlight and duct it to the airbox for the Demon, same as the Hellcat. Dodge also added an After-run Chiller that would give the car colder air, helping it make more power.

Lastly, Dodge handed out a complimentary, collectible leather-bound track tech manual. One can find all the technical components of the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. The manual also had instructions on setting up the cars for the track.

Dodge started with the Hellcat, loaded up that muscle car with enough power to drive the petrol junkies insane. Once it caught up, Dodge doubled down, saying, let's take it one step further, and unleashed its demon. Their goal was to make the fastest and most powerful production ever, and they did it right. The mighty Demon made its debut during the New York Auto Show in April 2017.

Dodge reinforced itself as a pure performance brand. Even the powerhouses, such as the Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 and Chevy Camaro ZL1, were no match. No other pony car even came close.

The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is undoubtedly one of the most remarkable and craziest cars to don the badge of the Dodge. This beast goes for about an average of $136,899. Some of these have sold out for as much as half a million dollars, but the most recent Demon went out for around $145,000. Who wouldn't want to own this beast and drive it down a few straight strips?
