It is no mystery that Americans really love pickup trucks, and let's be honest there's a lot to love. More specifically, the Toyota Tacoma is a particularly popular option for a smaller-sized pickup truck and again, there's heaps to love.

In many ways, pickups trucks are a logical choice for a do-everything-car, hosting a vast array of features that make them more flexible than say muscle cars for example. Now before any fellow muscle car enthusiasts are offended, simply consider what type of car you would rather drive on both a bumpy off-road track and a shopping mall car park? Would it be a modern Mustang? Or a classic Camaro? Or a pickup truck of some description? Obviously, these vehicles are all adept to driving around in shopping malls, but the muscle cars would not fare as well on off-road terrain. Sure, there are 4WDs for heavy off-road usage, but they are not as practical for everyday suburban driving. Thus, pickups trucks are a popular option for the sweet balance that they offer.

The Toyota Tacoma is one of the most popular pickup trucks in America, ranking just outside the Top 10 best selling cars in 2021 according to CarAndDriver. The Tacoma is smaller than the Toyota Tundra but seeks to satisfy very similar functions. There were no major changes from the 2018 to 2019 model, and there is almost no need to as the car seems to be pretty well reviewed.

Like with any car on the used market, prices are heavily dependent on the individual car's feature set, condition, mileage and the seller's understanding of the car's worth. However, considering that the 2019 Toyota Tacoma is a pretty new car and can be found for cheaper than new with very little usage, they present a more affordable way of purchasing a capable modern mid-sized pickup truck. However, Toyota vehicles hold their value pretty well so do not expect to see the level of depreciation that is normally associated with other used cars, especially the more modern Toyota Tacoma.

Looking through Edmunds, AutoTrader and Cars.com, prices seem to fall consistently between $22,000 and $52,000 for the Tacoma SR and the Tacoma TRD Pro respectively. While there is a significant range between the mileage extending from about 3,000 miles all the way to 100,000+, the majority of 2019 Toyota Tacoma models fall between the 20,000 and 60,000 mile mark.
