Tesla has had a pretty good start to the year. The electric automobile giant looks set to receive at least $1.2 billion of public funding from the German Government as part of the firm opening an EV battery manufacturing hub in Berlin.

Also, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has confirmed the long-awaited Roadster supercar, although its release date has been delayed until 2022.

For now, Tesla's primary focus will be on its new Model S Plaid and Model X Plaid models. The electric car market is becoming increasingly cramped, and these two additions to the Tesla family have neatly designed interior features to help them distinguish themselves.

Let's take a closer look at how Tesla is keeping ahead of the competition.

What Can We Expect From The New Tesla Model S Plaid's Interior?

According to Motor Trend, the Tesla Model S Plaid will pose a threat to the 2021 Lucid Air Dream Edition, and the car company claims that the Model S Plaid will be the quickest production car ever made. They also announced specs for the new Model S Plaid during its fourth-quarter earnings call and presented pictures of the vehicle's revamped interior.

Its interior has been simplified in the style of the Model 3 and Model Y, with its beautiful steering wheel which has been replaced by an aircraft-style yoke, and a humongous center screen. Unlike the Model 3 and Model Y, though, the Model S Plaid retains a separate digital instrument panel behind the wheel.

How Does The VW ID.5's Interior Compare To The Tesla Model S Plaid's?

Volkswagen's ID.5 is another one of the Model S Plaid's main competitors. Its interior is minimalist and comes with the same 12-inch touchscreen as the ID.4, digital driver's display, simple dashboard design and ambient lighting.

Fortunately for Tesla, the ID.5's steering wheel cannot compare to the Model S's aircraft-style yoke steering wheel. At a time when numerous car companies are competing with each other to maximize their sales, it is disappointing that Volkswagen has failed to radically alter the ID.5's design from that of the ID.4's.

What Can We Expect From The New Tesla Model X Plaid's Interior?

It's hard to complain about the lack of choice that Tesla has to offer at the moment as the new Model X Plaid and the Model S Plaid both share the same basic platform. Auto Express claims that, like the Model S Plaid, Tesla has done a tremendous job in providing drivers with a revised, attention-grabbing interior. Technology fans will not be disappointed with the Tesla vehicle's digital gauge cluster, a 17-inch infotainment system and four wireless smartphone charging pads. Do you enjoy video games or films? No problem! Rear-seat passengers also get their own screen mounted in the central tunnel, on which they can watch their favorite blockbuster or entertain themselves with the latest gaming sequel.

There are few changes to the trim, including fresh wood paneling for the dashboard and a new steering wheel.

Drivers can spec the Model X Plaid with five, six or seven seats, and with the first option selected, there is a maximum storage capacity of 2,577 liters.

How Does The Audi e-Tron S Sportback's Interior Compare To The Model X's?

Audi has managed to ensure that the cabin of its new e-Tron S Sportback resembles one that you would find in a Q7, Q8 or even an A8. It is worth noting that the only differences drivers might notice are the center console and unique gear selector, which doubles as a cushion for the driver's wrist when they operate the lower control screen. This is one of its coolest features, as are the MMI infotainment system and centrally positioned display providing access to all the features drivers require.

Regardless, its interior fails to compare to the Tesla Model X because of the family-friendly central tunnel that enables children to play on the latest games and watch films. In terms of originality, Tesla trumps Audi on this account.

Rather like the recent news that the Roadster has been delayed until 2022, the same can be said of the Model X Plaid, so even though Tesla is taking orders, don't expect one immediately. The car company is also taking orders for Long Range forms of the Model X.

Hopefully, Tesla can retain its place as the king of electric cars because there is so much choice on the market regarding electric vehicles. But to give Tesla credit, the electric car company's customers can be certain about one thing when it comes to their cars' interiors; they are consistent with the way they are designed, and they sure stand out compared to those of their rivals.
