We are in the day and age of electric vehicles where every company is trying to shift their mentality and change their products, adapting to the trends of the market.

Tesla is the pioneer of this electrification and has had many crucial breakthroughs. Following the footsteps of the Musk-built brand, other manufacturers have brought their A-game to rival one another and build their strong position in the future.

BMW is one of the above-mentioned companies, has many weapons in its arsenal, and the iX is one of the more successful ones. Though it has a perplexing design for many, the vehicle offers so many viable options and features, making it one of the best electric cars in the SUV/crossover game. In fact, the car is already sold out.

The Tesla Model Y is another experiment of the company, where it follows the all-successful Model 3 in a crossover disguise. There are many conflicting opinions on this vehicle, but it has many perks that we have yet to discuss. So let’s get into more details and see how these electric machines match up.

The iX will be available in two fashions, xDrive50 being the first option. The xDrive50 features a pair of electric motors producing 516 HP; it also comes standard with an all-wheel drive. Having that configuration helps the iX to hit 60 MPH in 4.4 seconds. M60 will be the other available option after the xDrive50, focusing more on the performance and boasting a 600 HP. An adjustable air suspension plus a rear-wheel steering mechanism is also provided for the iX. The iX has proven to be a robust performer and energy sufficient, with sharp handling and silky smooth rides.

BMW claims that the iX's massive 106.3-kWh battery pack will provide a driving range of approximately 300 miles on a single charge. It will be standard to have DC rapid charging, and when connected to a 200-kW power source, the iX can recharge from a low of 10% to 80% of its total capacity in only 35 minutes. BMW has teamed up with EVgo company to offer networks if you're looking for public charging stations, although the iX can also be charged at home using the Level 2 home charging station and other popular networks.

The Tesla Model Y Still Has Better Acceleration

Tesla Model Y Long Range

The Model Y's Standard Range trim is no longer available. The Model Y's Long Range and Performance variants are more enticing than the Standard Range version, so there isn't much of a disappointment here. All-wheel-drive Long Range goes from 0-60 in 4.4 seconds, barely 0.04 seconds slower than the long-term Model 3 sedan.

The Performance variant clocks even a more impressive 3.6 seconds from 0 to 60 MPH. The Model Y's acceleration is excellent, but it doesn't compare to the Model 3's driving pleasure. The Y's harsher ride over road irregularities is due to the SUV's higher center of gravity, which reduces the handling sharpness compared to Model 3.

The all-wheel-drive Long Range variant has an approximate range of 330 miles, while the Performance model has an estimated range of 303 miles. The latter has 20-inch wheels, a lowered suspension, a greater peak speed of 155 MPH, stated acceleration that is believed to be faster, and a special Track mode.

In terms of passenger and storage capacity, the SUV is believed to be comparable to the company's mid-size X5 and X6 crossovers. The iX's interior design is both basic and futuristic. It incorporates a number of high-tech features, such as a huge curved touchscreen instrument panel with a steering wheel with a hexagonal form.

Only a few cars on the market have a sunroof with electrochromic shade, which is a unique feature offered by BMW. Additionally, the power front seats are warmed, and they have embedded speakers for the iX's sound system. While BMW provides both faux-leather and real leather upholstery options, the company also provides a textile seat fabric choice called Loft, made from microfiber cloth.

Model Y’s Design And Features: Minimalistic And Practical

Tesla's Model Y doesn't have the Falcon Wing doors seen in the bigger Model X crossover vehicle; rather, its interior is almost identical to that of the Model 3. There aren't many physical controls on this automobile, either. Instead, it depends on a big infotainment display mounted in the middle of the dashboard.

The interior has an airy feel thanks to an all-glass roof that is highly tinted to prevent overheating passengers in warmer climates. The additional third row of seats brings a whopping $3000 to the Model Y's price, and we're not sure if they'll be large enough to accommodate adults in comfort.

All in all, the BMW iX is a better bet since it offers a better combination of performance, design, and size.
