The idea of a barn find is always thrilling for enthusiasts. One the one hand, it is sad to think about a car being abandoned for so long, but on the other it may be the perfect opportunity to get their hands on something truly valuable. Some cars, like the modern Chevrolet Corvette, as well as many performance cars from the past 15-20 years could become incredible finds if found by the right person, but digital artist Oscar Vargas wanted to show how these cars could look.
The C8 Corvette Weathered Over Time
The C8 is the newest in a line of highly in-demand cars, with dealers still not being able to hold on to them for more than days at a time. With such demand, it is hard to imagine that one day these cars could be forgotten and left to the elements and time. The render shows the car with much of it's gloss coat faded down to the primer as well as fogged and faded headlights. The wheels look beat-up along with the tires, and the windows are covered in "years" of filth and dust. Overall, the car looks fairly well-kept for a car supposedly 50 years in the future.
The C8 Would Follow Many Corvettes As A Barn Find
While Corvettes are popular across America, as well as around the world, they do unfortunately find their fate as barn finds fairly often. In 2019, a massive barn find was discovered in Manhattan and contained 36 different Corvettes, all of which spanned over four decades of cars with the newest being from the late 1980s and early 1990s. The collection, which was auctioned to charity, was able to move all the vehicles to new locations and homes.
The Fate Of Barn Find Corvettes
Many Corvettes and barn finds in general do get restored to their former glory. Corvettes have become fairly common for restorations, and the idea of finding a C8 Corvette as a barn find in the next few decades would assume the same reaction and treatment. Digital artist Oscar Vargas said, "It’s fun for me to imagine if people 50 years from now will get excited finding a beat up dusty version of a current and very modern car like the C8."
