Long time comedian Jerry Seinfeld has an impressive career, being the funny man the entire family recognizes. There is nothing funny about his money though. A personal fortune of $950 million has allowed him to build a covetable garage, housing some top of the range cars. Matter of fact, his multi-million dollar car collection makes up a significant chunk of his net worth.
In another life, Jerry would probably be a mechanic, with his visible obsession with the auto industry. His go-to manufacturer is Porsche, whose mostly classic cars, he has stacked up in his 1.4 million dollar garage. While you and I own a garage, Jerry’s two-story version of a garage is quite literally a parking lot. It was commissioned in 1999, and right away it garnered media interest, not just because Jerry Seinfeld himself is arguably one of the most iconic comedians in history, but also because of the ridiculous undertaking it was to put together such an impressive garage.
Not your average car enthusiast, Jerry Seinfeld’s garage hosts an assembly of about 150 cars, each one of them a testament to his avid affection for being on the road.
Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee
We can only hope to vicariously enjoy the thrill of Jerry Seinfeld’s assortment of cars, but following the exit of his show, and dozens of television and movie appearances after that, he put together a show with Netflix called ‘Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee’. With enough influence to make money moves, he invites some of the most acclaimed media personalities to have a coffee-infused ride with him in one of his array of vehicles. Some household names in the roll have included Obama, Eddie Murphy, Will Ferrell, and Chris Rock.
The Offset of Some $22 Million in Cars
Having 150 cars in his garage as of now, it would be hard to come to terms with the fact that the current figure is as a result of Jerry Seinfeld downsizing his fleet! In 2016, stating that he’d run out of parking space as well as time to take the deserved care of some of his Porsche models, he put 16 of them up for sale to the highest bidder at the Amelia Island Auction. Buyers quickly seized 15 of the 16 cars, garnering the comedian about 22 million dollars.
Jerry Loves Cars, Just Not This One
What looks like a Lexus, sounds like a Lexus, and moves like a Lexus? A coffin on wheels! That is the sentiment that Jerry holds towards the Lexus brand, and he insists that he’d be dead and buried before one of those cars found its way to any of his garages. Toyota may not have a loyal fan in Jerry Seinfeld any time soon.
His Crown Jewel, The 1949 Porsche 356/2 Gmund
Jerry Seinfeld has a penchant for the scarcest of automobile breeds, and with this particular model of Porsche, he hit the rarity jackpot, bagging one of only 50 hand-built cars, built-in Porsche’s first factory in Gmund, Austria.
5 Years Spent Restoring a 1964 Porsche 911
Dishing out a total of $650,000 for the purchase and restoration of this Porsche 911, Jerry Seinfeld received the final build of what would be the first Porsche 911 imported into the US. The Porsche was previously owned by Ferry Porsche, the son of Porsche’s founder. Having imported it in 1996 for $400,000, he paid $250,000 to Cavaglieri Restorations in Germany, to have it restored with original parts.
He Iconically Owns One of Only 200 1983 Porsche 959s Ever Made
Technically, he doesn’t drive this Porsche, but it sits pretty in his garage, not getting it out to play with it because it is illegal to drive in the US. Part of the agreement of him owning it is that he literally can’t drive it, but he can showcase it to the world as he pleases; and of course, he does!
Jerry Owns Some Basic Cars, Like This 1977 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser
Jerry does not hate all of Toyota, and he featured a 1977 FJ40 Land Cruiser in “Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee”, bringing the standard of cars back to normal pockets..at least during its year of manufacture. Scooping it up right now would set you back a tidy $100,000 at the very least.
An Incredibly Rare 1969 Lamborghini P400S Miura
Having changed hands a few times, the 3.9-liter V-12 engine, 345 HP P400 found a home in Jerry’s garage, among his plethora of Porsches. A similar model fetched a devastating $1.6 million at the RM Sotheby's London auction in October 2019.
The Perfect Bond Ride: 1964 Aston Martin DB5
Featured in the James Bond movie, Goldfinger, the DB5 was a delight to watch, having the remarkable Sean Connery at the wheel. With a 4 speed manual gear and donning a straight-six engine, this car is an absolute classic.
His First Classic Car, the 1958 Porsche 356A 1500 GS/GT Carrera Speedster
This gorgeous machine, while a veritable classic in its own right, was the subject of controversy when the $1.5 million car attracted a lawsuit from its new owners, Fica Frio Limited, who had scooped it up during Jerry’s auction. They’d slapped Jerry Seinfeld with a lawsuit on the grounds of the inauthenticity of the vehicle. The suit has not been reported to have been concluded, since the buyer’s claims are yet to be substantiated.
1964 Volkswagen Camper Convertible
Pictured here with Jim Gaffigan in Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, this VW camper feels like a time-machine that shoots you back to the 70s. It is fitted with a Westfalia popup camper.
He Pulled Out His 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray For Barack
Jerry pulled out all the stops with this 3rd generation corvette, a model well-deserving for the former president of the US. Originally designed for racing, this car was a step up from its previous generation, with a lighter chassis, better handling, and sleeker design.
