Leonardo DiCaprio is one of the coolest and suavest actors to ever grace our screens. His Oscar win for his performance in "The Revenant" was overdue and he's still one of the slickest characters in real life as well.

Leonardo pays tribute to his Italian roots by coming across as an elegant, suave larger than life type figure through what we see in the press. However, more recently DiCaprio has been using his platform to raise awareness for the hugely important issue of global warming.

So, it's no surprise as to what type of cars he has lurking around in the celebrity's collection, let's take a look at what cars Leonardo DiCaprio chooses to drive.

Leo likes cars, but It's no surprise that a man with such strong thoughts and actions towards climate change would be opting for a garage made up of electric vehicles. Leonardo's quest for sustainability and eco-living doesn't deter him from luxury, however.

Although one of his first cars was the humble Toyota Prius, the best-selling hybrid in the United States, which Leo had this to say about the car:

“I own a Toyota Prius; it’s a step in the right direction…We have the technology to make every car produced in America today just as clean, cheap and efficient.”

He also goes on to explain how they are so efficient and practical, and he ended up buying more for his family to get around LA in.

He also admitted to having a Lexus RX Hybrid when he was invited onto TopGear for their "Star In A Reasonably Priced Car Segment". In this interview, he also professed his love for hybrid technology.

He says "ever since I learned about hybrid vehicles, that’s all I’ve really owned.” He has also recently been spotted in a Volvo XC90 Hybrid on the streets of LA.

To continue the theme of EV and hybrids, he also has a couple of special mentions in this line-up. The first being the Fisker Karma. Released in 2012 the Karma was a step forward in providing a luxury experience for those wanting a cleaner more sustainable mode of transport.

It has solar panels integrated into the roof which work to recharge the car’s Lithium-Ion battery. It uses no animal products in its interiors, instead opting for reclaimed natural fabrics. Leonardo even went on to become an ambassador for the brand, and right now is doing well with new Fisker products on the horizon.

The last of the EV's which we have to talk about is Leo's Tesla Roadster. The Roadster was the first production vehicle launched by Tesla and now will set you back just as much as they were new. It was based on the chassis of the nimble Lotus Elise but used an all-electric powertrain instead. Leo has also been spotted in a model S Tesla, the Hollywood superstar is said to be on good terms with Mr. Elon Musk.

The roadster proved to the world that electric motoring could be fun and stylish. we're sure Leo had some fun driving the Hollywood Hills with the roof off in his roadster. With only 2,400 units made worldwide, the Roadster is set to be a sought-after collector's item.

Over the years, cars have played a part in some of his most iconic roles, so it's only right that they get some praise too. Most cars look cooler with Leo DiCaprio behind the wheel.

The most iconic of all comes in the shape of a white Lamborghini Countach from his iconic role as Jordan Belfort in "The Wolf of Wall Street". The most famous scene is when he is tripping hard off quaaludes whilst struggling to open the Lamborghini's butterfly doors.

The Countach looks so good in this scene, and it's quite a surreal moment when you remind yourself this was based on a real event in the '80s. Leo looks at home behind the wheel of a Lambo, when they make their first EV or Hybrid we will be eagerly waiting to see him in one.

Another car that actually does belong to Leo, or at least belonged at some point, was a Porsche Cayenne. Porsche's first go at an SUV to rival the likes of Range Rover's, unfortunately, wasn't much of a hit, but later models have improved. It's unsure which engine option Leo has but he hasn't been seen in it for a few years opting for eco options instead, Leo and Brad Pitt were seen driving around LA in it, probably discussing who has nicer cars.

Another thing about Leo is that he is actually a co-owner of a Formula E racing team named Venturi. He teamed up with them as a lead investor and is often seen at many Grand Prix's, especially Monaco. With an obvious interest in racing and motorsports, it's great to see Leo sticking to his eco ways.

No matter what he drives Leo DiCaprio is still effortlessly cool and has a solid taste in cars. With an EV future on its way, we look forward to seeing what he will choose to spend his money on in the coming years.
