10 Increased Downforce With A More Aerodynamic Design

The F8's louvered Lexan engine cover mimics the classic Ferarri F40's cover. The Lexan engine cover is part of a weight-saving regimen that saves 88 pounds from the F8's overall weight; which for a supercar dependent on fine detail, is a lot of weight.

The louvered Lexan engine cover saves just as much weight as it did in 1980 when Ferarri utilized it last. The only downside to the reduction of weight is that the plastic cover shakes when accelerating, distorts the rearview, and allows rain and condensation into the engine compartment.

This latest version of the twin-turbo V8 has been handed down from the special edition 488 Pista and is built 40 pounds lighter, revs quicker, and cranks out 710 horsepower at 8,000 rpm, and produces 568 pound-feet of torque at 3,250 rpm.

The twin-turbo V8 in the Ferarri F8 Tributo launches the F8 from 0-60mph in a short 2.7 seconds, and a zero to 100mph run only takes a blistering 5.2 seconds. The F8 runs a quarter-mile in 10.1 seconds and has a top speed of 211mph.

While these straight-line numbers are impressive, the F8 was not built to just hit the straights. The performance produced from this midengined supercar surpasses simple 0-60mph times and performs best on the track.

5 Utilization Of New Technology

The F8 utilizes new technology in every aspect of its design. From ten percent more aerodynamically efficient body design, fifteen percent greater downforce, and a lighter more efficient twin-turbo V8, and carbon-ceramic brakes, new tech surrounds the F8 Tributo's design.

New technology does not end with the styling of the body, however, and is found also in the most power-dense Ferarri engine ever made. Ferarri has reduced emissions in the F8 Tributo by improving the twin-turbo V8's ability to more efficiently use fuel.

The EPA estimates the 2021 F8 Tributo and Spider will get 15 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. This does not seem like a huge improvement, but when compared to a direct rival such as the Lamborghini Hurrican, it is an average of 2 mpg more in the city and 2 mpg more highway.
