Neil Young is known as a Rock and Roll musician. Aside from his music, Neil is a huge environmentalist. Yet, his love for sustainability and the planet does not stop him from loving cars even more.
During his career and time loving cars, Neil has homed over 35 cars. He believes that music and cars go together. Neil states he loves nothing more than driving and listening to his music.
Neil Young has a huge passion for horsepower, so let's take a look at his most-loved cars.
1941 Chrysler Series 28 Windsor Highlander Coupe
The Chrysler came around whilst Neil was attempting to reduce his collection. Yet, this 1940's beauty caught his eye during an auction in the 70s. The Chrysler is an L-head six-cylinder three-seater. The three seats made the car quite comical during its early years but the luxurious leather interior and impressive previous owner, Steve McQueen, made the car quite special.
1947 Buick Roadmaster Sedan

Instead, his choice always involved something classic and understated. The 1947 Buick Roadmaster Sudan came into Young's life during the early 1970s and was one of his most-loved cars.
The Sedan reflected Neil's soulful and cultural personality. It is indeed a soulful beauty as it's part of the very first cars Buick produced. In its heyday, the Roadmaster Sedan cost less than $3,000.
1948 Buick Roadmaster Hearse

This was in fact Neil's first-ever car. Instead of going for something typical and compact, he wanted something that would fit his band equipment. What better than a Hearse for lots of space and functionality.
Neil loved his first-ever car so much that he wrote a song about it. "Long May You Run" was a reflection of his love for the car and how he wished it lived forever. Yet, no cars can last forever. When his Buick Hearse eventually packed up on him, Neil purchased another Hearse. This time, he got an ambulance Hearse.
1950 Plymouth Special Deluxe
[caption id="attachment_489348" align="alignnone" width="1920"] Via: Classic Auto Mall[/caption]The 1950 Plymouth Special Deluxe was one of Neil's most random purchases. After a few drinks at his favorite bar, he heard a Special Deluxe four-door Sedan was up for sale for less than $2,000. He immediately rushed to purchase it and luckily he did and he claims it one of his favorite ever purchases.
This L-head straight-six is a fine yet affordable vehicle. Unlike most cheaply made cars of this time, the Plymouth Deluxe contains fine trims in its interior with splashes of shiny chrome around the outer body. Apparently, it sounds just as beautiful as it looks.
Neil's Special Deluxe holds more value after having many celebrity friends in the backseat, such as Elvis. No wonder the Plymouth Special holds a special place in his heart.
1953 Buick Roadmaster Skylark Convertible

Another in his collection was the 1953 Roadmaster Skylark Convertible. Today, the 1953 Buick Skylark Convertibles are extremely rare. It is built in a very small quantity as a celebration of the brand's 50th anniversary. Neil's version was the first made out in 1690.
The Buick special edition convertible boasted a 322-cubic-inch nailhead V8 Engine. Although it was cherished by Neil, he did eventually sell this with a customized Neil Young steering wheel. The first of 1690 Buick Skylark Convertible's sold for over $400,000.
1960 Lincoln Continental Mark IV
[caption id="attachment_489349" align="alignnone" width="800"] Via: Hagerty[/caption]Young was known to be an avid lover of the planet with various connections to environmentalist charities. So after consulting car wizard Jonathan Goodwin, Young set out on a mission to make the 1960 Lincoln Continental Mark IV environmentally friendly. The pair almost succeeded and made the 63,000lb car run solely on an electric engine, which was generated by bio-fuel.
The Lincoln Continental ran smoothly for a short while before continuously conking out. Later in 2010, the car caused huge devastation after it set fire whilst charging. The fire demolished over $1 million worth of music memorabilia.
Most would assume that this would make Neil destroy the car. But he loved it so much he later restored the electric-powered car and continued to use it.
