The new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is a refinement in every aspect from its predecessor and serves right for the hugely successful car from the three-pointed star. The C-Class has sold more than 2.5 million units since 2014 which fairly speaks for its success in recent years. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class carries on the same design all Mercedes sedans seem to have these days, but this doesn’t make it any less appealing.

Due to the huge importance, the C-Class carries for Mercedes, the company does its best to not mess up and due to this, Mercedes hasn’t made many changes to the C-Class rather maintained a specific profile and built on that. Since the introduction of the A-Class, the C-Class has moved up in the hierarchy and now faces better rivals like Audi A4, BMW 3-Series, and the Genesis G70.

So what’s changed in 2022? The new 2022 Mercedes C-Class carries the same rear-wheel-drive platform, a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and an option for All-Wheel-Drive, however, the magic happens on the inside with an interior identical to the S-Class. The new C-Class begins a new age for one of the most successful cars from Mercedes, which will bring better luxury and hi-tech instruments for the rider to enjoy.

The 2022 Mercedes C-Class has the same 255HP turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine but gets a power-up with a 48V hybrid system that can temporarily provide an extra 20HP. Buyers can opt for the All-Wheel-Drive, but the standard setup is the Rear-Wheel-Drive. However, the C200 will have to make do with a mild 1.5-liter engine. Buyers also get an option for a petrol plug-in hybrid that comes with an electric range of over 60 miles, and Mercedes will soon launch a diesel plug-in hybrid.

The C-Class comes with a 9-speed automatic transmission that offers just the right power delivery for a car of this caliber. The 2022 Mercedes C Class came with four options, namely the C200, C300 petrol, C220d, and C300d diesel versions. The 261HP C300d is one of the best 2.0-liter diesel cars you can buy right now, paired with the 9-Speed Automatic is as good as it gets with a four-cylinder engine. However, you won’t get the same performance as found in the BMW 330d with its straight-six.

The best upgrade in the 2022 Mercedes C-Class is its interior, with many high-tech features and amenities coming straight from the benchmark S-Class. The C-Class has the same 11.9-inch portrait touchscreen which includes many features and support for Mercedes digital assistants which gets better every time, although it isn’t as good as other assistants like Alexa or Siri. All models come with touch-sensitive controls and a host of other amenities.

Standard luxury features include heated front seats with memory settings, sunroof, open-pore wood trims, and aluminum accents. The C-Class is quite comfortable with an on-point driving position and a quiet cabin, although there are some plastic parts that allow noise. 2022 Mercedes C-Class is 2.5-inches longer than its predecessor and its wheelbase is stretched by 1 inch. This allowed for a more spacious interior with much better legroom for the rear passengers. The only fault with the interior is those plastic bits you can find below the dashboard that feel more A-Class than S-Class.

The 2022 Mercedes C-Class is a comfortable car with a refined feel while driving through town and motorways. The mild-hybrid helps in accelerating on motorways and offers a smooth launch while driving around town. All this is done while minimizing noise inside the cabin, making for a quiet ride. Buyers get the option to get sports or adaptive suspension with sports suspension having 15 mm lower ride height which doesn’t drive well over side roads where potholes, speed bumps, and ruts are commonplace. Overall, the C-Class drives well and Mercedes has done a good job in maximizing comfort in this car.

Add the rear-axle steering(which comes as an option) the C-Class is surprisingly agile, and the driving experience is quite precise despite all the comfort. This is due to the excellently tuned steering that feels nicely weighted and gives a natural feel. While the Comfort mode makes the ride feel all nice and easy, in Sport and Sport Plus mode, the 312HP output comes into play and really gives a dynamic riding experience.
