Based on its appearance, it's clear that this car was designed to allure enthusiasts. The new CUPRA Leon has a brand new look that incorporates newer technologies, distinguishing it from its predecessors. The appearance of the 2021 Leon is more than sufficient to compete with popular models like the Honda Civic Type R.

From the fascia, the car has an attractive grille, which holds the signature CUPRA emblem on its front. Other noteworthy exterior features are the large air intakes and large front wing that contrast the color, which gives it a bolder look. It gets standard full LED technology, which improves vision, even on the darkest of roads.

For a smooth finish, the 2021 model comes in a couple of paint options to add personality to the vehicles. The CUPRA Leon comes standard with four soft and metallic paint colors: Urban Silver, Midnight Black Candy White, and Magnetic Tech.

For its dedicated customers, the new CUPRA Leon adds two available paint options: Graphene Grey and Desire Red, and two matt options: Petrol Blue Matt and Magnetic Tech Matt.

Stepping into the new CUPRA Leon would give you the feeling of being inside a luxury supercar. But even before you enter, you’ll be welcomed by the light that projects on the floor right in front of you.

The 2021 CUPRA Leon’s interior gets a sporty and sophisticated appearance, which is further complemented by the standard 10" infotainment system. Besides reducing buttons, this system includes voice and gesture controls, as well as a 3D online navigation, all controlled on the Retina display. Also, the incorporated Full Link system makes the Leon's infotainment compatible with both Android Audio and Apple CarPlay.

Inside the CUPRA Leon, you’ll also enjoy the wide Digital Cockpit. Unlike most modern cockpits, the Digital Cockpit in the 2021 CUPRA Leon is fully customizable. Aside from the standard driving modes, the Digital cockpit gets a new sporty view, which shows information such as power, torque, RPM, and turbo pressure.

The driver and passengers in the CUPRA Leon will enjoy sitting in the spacious cabin, and for a hatchback, the amount of interior space is quite impressive.

With the cabin size in the base model, you’ll have no trouble taking the family on any adventure or hauling some cargo. If you’re looking for more interior space, though, we recommend the Sportstourer model, which adds about 30 liters of luggage space.

The powertrain of the CUPRA Leon is where things get a lot more interesting. The CUPRA Leon offers an assortment of engine options, ranging from typical gas-powered engines to more sophisticated hybrid powertrains. This way, there’s something for every customer.

Under the hood, the standard 2021 CUPRA Leon comes with a 1.4-liter TSI engine, which can churn out up to 148 hp. This blends with a 114 hp electric motor and a 13-kWh Lithium-ion battery pack to produce a combined peak output of 241 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. The CUPRA Leon is between the warm hatch and the hot hatch.

Powertrain-wise, the 2021 CUPRA Leon is better than the VW Golf GTI, whose 2-liter TSI turbo-4 engine also churns out 241 hp with a lesser torque of 273 lb-ft.

Besides the Hybrid powertrain (termed eHybrid), the new CUPRA Leon is also offered in up to three turbocharged, traditional-injection, 4-cylinder two-liter TSI petrol counterparts: a 180kW, 221kW, and the strongest engine that delivers up to 228kW and a new feature called 4Drive.

Speaking of which, the 4Drive technology (which is exclusive to the Sportstourer model) works on delivering the right amount of power to the engine by using the vehicle and driver inputs.

For the 2021 model year, the brand has redesigned the chassis and the steering to enhance the car's performance, regardless of which powertrain you opt for.

The 2021 CUPRA Leon has a progressive steering system, which gives the vehicle maximum agility on almost any terrain. The steering feedback is swift and easy to control. To further improve handling, the CUPRA Leon sits lower (by 25 mm) than a regular Leon. This reduces center gravity.

The Cupra Leon eHybrid can accelerate from zero to 62 mph in about 6.7 seconds and has a maximum speed of 140 mph.

Safety Is A Big Priority

The new CUPRA Leon has a great safety record and is probably the safest insofar as 2021 counterparts go. The Leon combines some of the most advanced safety technologies that are tailored to keep you and your passengers protected.

The newest and most outstanding safety feature of the CUPRA Leon is Emergency Assistance, which basically uses visual and aural warning sounds to make sure the driver’s eyes are fixed on the road. If the driver stops blinking, the feature signals the car to come to a stop before using the eCall system to contact emergency services.

The new CUPRA Leon also incorporates the Adaptive Cruise Control system, Traffic Jam Assistance, Lane Assistance, the Predictive Cruise Control, and the Travel Assist features to help you get to your destination without hassle.

The Side and Exit Assistance feature, on the other hand, comes with blind-spot technology to see what your eyes can’t and gives you a warning when someone comes close to your car, in case you plan on driving off while say you're in a crowded parking lot.

All in all, the CUPRA Leon has plenty to offer, and there's a lot to love about it.
