Originally started as a spin-off of Pawn Stars and a popular show in its own right, Counting Cars has been hitting sweet spots for all of us since 2012. However, like all the reality TV shows, this too is scripted. Mildly dosed with drama and theatrics, it is an all-time favorite of all of us car fanatics. A garage of Las Vegas full of passionate people, who revamp and restore cool cars, is honestly the wet dream of anyone who loves cars. Some of the juicy bits of the show are, however, fabricated or staged. What we see on the TV is mostly the product of the writers’ room. Read more about all the fake stuff happening at Counting Cars in detail.

In spite of the fact that we are discussing the below things, they do not mean at all, that we don’t like the show. On the contrary, we totally love the show! It has consistently been one of the greatest car shows to starts binging now. The best thing about them is they give lots of attention and love to our own domestic classic used cars and motorcycles.

Although we agree it's a reality show and reality shows are all but reality these days, it is still fun to rant about the fake stuff that catches our eyes, every once a while. Now that we have got that out of the way, here you go.

The Unbelievable Prices Without Negotiations

Danny drives out in his car on the road and stumbles upon a car, which will look perfect after restoration. He speaks with the owner and throws an unbelievably low bid. The owner agrees to sell. All of this is done with minimal negotiations. Actually, it is all staged. The car and the owner are already finalized, before the shoot. It is also seen in many instances that the real offered money for a car or a bike was much higher than what was shown on TV.

The Drama & Hyped Conversations

While many love the show, some fans claim there is little value in the show. Real work is seldom shown. Danny and the manager always act like there is no money in the shop and they are really very tight on the budget, which does not look realistic because according to TheFamousPeople, Danny has a fortune passed on to him by his wealthy dad. Danny himself has also worked hard to invest in his passion. Apart from Count’s Kustoms, he owns a restaurant plus a tattoo parlor to pull the money in the shop, too. Read about the coolest cars in Danny's garage here. There is actually no fixed budget for the projects. Most of the scenes where the manager is chastising Danny for spending too much is a subtle act for the camera.

Lots of people have actually confirmed that the staff of the shop are nowhere near as wacky and cartoonish, as they pretend to be on the show. In reality, they are all decent normal people.

Online Reviews & Feedback

If you have been following the show closely, you must have noticed that everything on the show always looks too good to be true. The owners are satisfied and content, the staff are always abiding by the rules and helpful, and in most of the episodes, there is not one disgruntled buyer or employee. The whole show of this goodie-goodie seems a bit exaggerated, when you look at the online reviews of Count's Kustoms. Some of the buyers have ranted about how poor their service was or how they were charged unfairly. Some people have also complained that they do not care about your car if you are not featured on the show. Well, to be fair, the negative reviews could very well be written by jealous competitors too!

The Deals Wrapped Up In A Few & Morphed Discovery Stories

In the show, when Danny and the team catch a car they find worthy, they strike up a deal in minutes. Of course, since it's a TV show, they can’t show the whole conversation with the owners, but, the way a deal is struck up within a few, seems unrealistic.

The truth is that there are no random car owners, nor are the deals wrapped up in a few minutes. The celebs don’t drop in casually, either. Most of the celeb features are collaborations and promotional deals. Sometimes you see them finding rarest of the tools and spares on their own top shelves somewhere, as seen in the episodes where Danny and Count's Kustoms fixed and restored some of the sickest cars. It does look a bit dreamy, but, the tools and spares are tactfully placed so!

Sometimes, they show a car that was discovered in a pathetic condition or abandoned on the outskirts. But, when we dug deep into these stories, we found out that most of these discovery stories were just stories, planted in an attempt to create sensationalism. Who doesn't love a little drama?
