When most YouTubers buy a car to show off to their legion of fans, they tend to base their choices on the lifestyles they pursue and their preference for model types from muscle cars to luxury vehicles. For instance, you wouldn't expect super-rich Los Angeles land developer Manny Khoshbin to flip head over heels proclaiming the virtues of a Toyota Camry. But journalist and fellow YouTuber Doug DeMuro is far more practical than that. The brains behind his successful Cars & Bids website has reviewed everything from mid-size sedans to supercars and if he finds a Toyota worth purchasing, darn right, he'll let the world know about it. Case in point is his latest video released Tuesday, when he explains why he dropped a load of cash on a 2019 Toyota Land Cruiser.

This Toyota Reportedly Reliable

He's particular exciting about acquiring this 200-Series SUV, which comes with all-wheel drive and a 5.7-liter V8 engine delivering up to 380 horsepower. While it's no slouch in the energy department, what DeMuro most likes about this Toyota is its reliability. The west-coast-based auto enthusiast previously drove a Land Rover at his summer retreat on the island of Nantucket, just off Massachusetts.

But the Land Rover is showing its age and isn't anywhere near as handy as it used to be.

"Basically, I needed something I could trust," said DeMuro, "something that could sit here on the east coast for months at a time when I'm not here, and I could trust it to start up every single time I decide to visit."

DeMuro also likes the Cruiser's ability to carry eight people and tackle off-road trails, especially those that trap less-ideal vehicles in mud. He previously considered more luxury SUVs but opted for this Toyota for its dependability and modest appearance.

"It combines all the benefits of an SUV without the flashiness... that those other vehicles have. And here in New England, that's kind of a way of life," he said. "The Land Cruiser just fits in perfectly: nice, luxurious, but subtle."

"It's a solid powertrain and I think it's going to last for a long, long time," added DeMuro.

Interior Boasts Mondo Features

He loves the interior features like external cameras for reverse and parallel parking, a refrigerated caddy on the saddle, heated steering wheel, access to Bluetooth audio and much more. His only quibble about this Toyota? Apparently, he's not too crazy about the beige interior. Can't win 'em all, Doug.
