The Mercedes-AMG E63 Wagon has been offering understated performance and utility since its introduction. YouTuber Doug DeMuro is particularly impressed with the inherent qualities of the 2021 AMG E63 Wagon, calling it a “truly amazing family car.” To prove his case, Doug reviewed this Mercedes from inside and out.

New Exterior Looks, Especially Up Front

Doug started off with the exterior of the 2021 AMG E63 Wagon, which now boasts a new look. AMG reshaped the grille, making it larger with vertical slats and a bigger, larger three-star emblem. Mercedes also remodeled the headlights, making them smaller than before.

Meanwhile, the rear section of the AMG E63 Wagon dons a massive rear diffuser, with the dynamic quad exhaust system completing the look. Overall, however, the AMG E63 Wagon does not really appear like a powerful, dynamic vehicle on the road, unless it flexes its muscles by going all-out on a sprint.

Since the 2021 AMG E63 Wagon is still a luxury vehicle with focus on its occupants, it goes beyond a family car, pampering occupants with ample cabin space, heated elements and adjustable seats. Second-row passengers enjoy more legroom thanks to the curvy shape of the front seat back sections.

Occupants would find the deep and tall cargo area of the E63 Wagon spacious enough for their luggage. When all seats are up, the cargo area offers up to 35 cubic feet of space (folded second-row seats offers 65 cubic feet). The cargo section even features a hidden storage area.

The E63 Wagon features a new flat-bottomed steering wheel with larger paddle shifters as well as smaller touch-sensitive elements. Mercedes also equipped the AMG E63 Wagon with the latest iteration of its MBUX infotainment system, a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

Supreme Yet Rare Wagon V8 Power

A 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine – with its 603 hp of max output and 627 lb-ft of peak torque – allows the 2021 AMG E63 Wagon to sprint from zero to 62 mph in just 3.5 seconds. Despite its power, the E63 Wagon is still great to handle and comfortable even in sports mode.

Interestingly, Mercedes canceled all V8 models for the 2022 model year. While all other cars are returning, the fate of the E63 Wagon for the 2022 model year remains unknown. With this, the 2021 E63 Wagon could be the last of its kind, making it rare and uncommon in the years to come.
