The Gemera GT represents a recent display of Koenigsegg's legendary engineering with space for 2 additional passengers. The 4-seater “Mega GT” has the aerodynamic design of a terrestrial spacecraft and a staggering 1,700 horsepower.

The interior, deemed “spacious and practical” by the automaker, is designed as a surprise for those who marvel at its sophisticated exterior. “It was vital to capture the essence of the megacar such as its stance, drama, and athleticism, and to leave out the fact that its a four-seater”, said Sasha Selipanov, Head of Design.

Gemera’s power is derived from a small 3-cylinder engine combined with Koenigsegg’s Freevalve system and triple electric motors. It doesn’t slack on performance, however, and the hybrid design allows for CO2-neutral operation. High-performance technologies combined with the practicality of interior space makes the Gemera GT the best 4-seater supercar available.

Quality Build And Engineering

Gemera GT has a build reinforced and lightened by carbon fiber components, which include the entire monocoque and AirCore wheels. In contrast to the Regera's 3-spoke design, this vehicle has 9 hollow spokes on the AirCore wheels.

Novel brake calipers are used on the Gemera, which has a wheel-to-wheel stiffness of 40KNm. The aggressive design is complimented by top-mounted titanium Akrapovic exhausts, providing a rich sound. The build incorporates functional design components such as air vents in the headlights and taillights.

The build is closely based on the aesthetic of other Koenigsegg models. “The Gemera’s cabin volume is pushed forwards like all predecessor Koenigsegg models, creating an agile and forward-leaping stance”, Selipanov explained. The car features the same dihedral synchro-helix doors as the Regera, which opens laterally and directly upwards to save space. The company uses an aluminum subframe in both the front and rear, along with adjustable ride height and roll bars.

Hybrid Powertrain And Performance

In an unexpected design choice, the Gemera GT is fitted with a small 2.0L, 3-cylinder engine. The power plant, dubbed “Tiny Friendly Giant” by Koenigsegg, is capable of generating 600 horsepower by itself.

With the addition of three electric motors and Koenigsegg Direct Drive (KDD), the Gemera has a total output of 1700hp and 2581 lb-ft of torque. This allows it to dash from 0-62mph in a swift 1.9 seconds. Koenigsegg is no stranger to exhilarating top speeds and achieved the fastest speed on any production car with the Agera RS.

The Gemera also incorporates the Freevalve system, which allows for independent intake and exhaust timing controlled through the system. Koenigsegg partnered with AI company SparkCognition to develop an electronic management system that can accurately and dynamically control valve operation.

Customers have a variety of options for fueling the Gemera.  These include normal gas, E85 Ethanol, E100, and second-generation biofuels. This dynamic flex-fuel capability allows for drastically reduced emissions in any climate. It has a fuel capacity of 19.8 gallons and can operate for up to 31 miles in pure EV mode with its 800V battery. In EV mode, operation is completely quiet and torque vectoring can be deactivated to save energy.

One electric motor is mounted to the crankshaft and two supply power to the rear wheels.  The automaker eliminates the need for a traditional throttle body and incorporates direct valve control. The Koenigsegg engine is camless which, according to the company, reduces cold-start emissions by approximately 60%.  This design is achieved through the use of pneumatic actuators for each cylinder.

The Gemera is Koenigsegg’s first 4-seater and one of very few in the supercar segment. Since it only has 2 doors, the company designed the chassis without B-pillars to allow for seamless entry and exit without moving the front seats. In addition to the ergonomic 4-seat design, there is a spacious cargo compartment for 4 pieces of standard luggage as well as multi-zone climate control. It is also the automaker’s first vehicle to use cameras in place of rearview mirrors.

Luxury options enhance the grace of the Gemera’s interior with choices of Alcantara, leather, and custom stitching. The heated seats have memory foam and 8 cup holders are available to keep drinks warm or cold. The information screen is easily visible, located centrally above the steering wheel with haptic touch controls on the spokes.

Gemera has most driver assistance features seen in a modern car including cruise control, parking assistance, and multiple traction control settings. Level 2 autonomous driving is available, which uses advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Two fire extinguishers are a thoughtful touch, as they typically don’t come standard on any car.

With its 248mph top speed, it easily dominates other 4-seat competitors such as the Aston Martin DBS Superleggera. Engineers wanted to give the Gemera GT to have maximum performance while reducing emissions and fuel consumption, which they have achieved through the hybrid powertrain and unprecedented engine design. The Gemera GT is an excellent example of a supercar that blends practicality with stunning performance.
