The next generation of the Kia Niro is finally here, and it has got everyone talking. Unveiled at the Seoul Mobility Show in 2021, the 2023 Kia Niro has a radical new design that is as imposing as it is impressive. After all, Kia had to keep up with the market, seeing how hybrid electric cars are selling like hotcakes lately.
Based on the 2019 HabaNiro concept that had every gear head excited, the 2023 Niro promises to be impressive in all aspects, from economy to performance and as well as features.
Moreover, there’s plenty of excitement going on the inside of the crossover as well, with revamped interiors that champion sustainability, keeping with the spirit of its hybrid and electric nature.
Here are the aspects of the 2023 Kia Niro we are most excited about.
8 All-New Generation
The new generation of the Kia Niro sports quite a bold design. It's definitely an improvement over the outgoing model, which, for all its utility and sales records, was never much of a looker. The Niro's new avatar now brands it as a tough-looking urban compact SUV.
In fact, despite having an all-electric e-GMP platform that underpins its EV siblings from Kia, the Niro is built on the current Niro's platform. With the new generation Niro, Kia aims to take sustainability a step further, going all-in on recycled materials.
7 Radical and bold new design
The 2023 Kia Niro's design is outstanding, quite simply put. Rooted in the 2019 HabaNiro concept, the new Niro sports the Tiger face. Moreover, its 'heartbeat' daytime-running lights design only adds to the aesthetics of the car.
On the rear, the unique design is not only aesthetic but functional as well. Not only does this reinforce the Niro's aerodynamic efficiency, but it also lessens drag. With the new model, the Kia Niro is certainly going to catch its fair share of eyes on the road.
6 Sustainable interiors
The new Kia Niro Hybrid has a classy, subtle cabin design, with a very clean look. The lines of the dashboard enable a vivid, beautiful display for the driver. Kia has used a lot of recycled and upcycled materials on the interior of the Niro. The seats themselves are products of Bio PU with Tencel from eucalyptus leaves.
Even the ceiling of the Niro is made from recycled fibers and wallpaper. In fact, even the paint used on the door panels is completely BTX-free, resulting in an environmentally responsible outlook that the Niro stands testament to. That's not all- even the window switches are constructed from recycled materials.
5 Power and efficiency
The 2023 Kia Niro comes in three variants- the Battery, the Hybrid, and the Plug-in Hybrid electric vehicles. The FWD EV variant runs on a single motor on a 64 kWh battery that should offer 240 miles in range. Based on the current Niro hybrid's power figures, the new HEV should churn out a combined 139 HP with 195 lb-ft of torque.
The petrol engine in the PHEV variant is the same as the current generation's unit. The all-electric range for the plug-in hybrid variant is a decent 26 miles, while a combined driving range reaches 560 miles. With a range like this, the lower-than-average power figures become quite easy to look over.
4 Driver assistance features
The 2023 Kia Niro Hybrid is a next-generation vehicle and has all the driver-assistance features to show for it. Auto-emergency braking, rear cross-traffic collision warning, lane-keep assist, and remote start are some of the features on the Niro that will make your life easier.
Of course, forward collision-avoidance assistance is at your service, and detects pedestrians, along with a blind spot monitor- features that one has come to expect from all Kia cars now, considering just how much more convenient they make the driving experience.
3 Greenzone Drive Mode
One of the biggest talking points of the new Niro Hybrid is that it will feature a Greenzone Drive Mode. Working in tandem with drivers' history data, and sat-nav, the Niro will automatically shift from PHEV mode into a fully EV mode when driving throw residential, school, and hospital areas.
Additionally, the Niro's Greenzone Drive Mode also registers a driver's home, office, and other favorite places in the navigation system as a green zone, too. Entering a Clean Air Zone, too, will make the Greenzone Drive Mode activate, switching the PHEV or HEV Niro to a strictly-EV mode.
2 Estimated pricing
Even though Kia hasn't released the pricing information for the 2023 Niro, it isn't tough to estimate that with the brand-new design and slew of upgraded features, it will certainly cost more than the outgoing 2022 model. The current model ranges from $24,500 for the base trim and goes up to $45,000 for the top Premium trim.
Undoubtedly, even if those prices were to go up slightly, the price-to-value ratio of the 2023 Kia Niro is undeniably remarkable. Kia sure knows how to fill its cars on every segment chock-full of features while keeping the prices as alluring as always.
1 Plethora of design options
It's not just the exterior design of the 2023 Kia Niro that's impressive, but also the lineup of different exterior paint jobs you can get- the exterior color options for the 2023 Niro include 8 different options- Cityscape Green, Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black Pearl, Mineral Blue, Interstellar Gray, Orange Delight, Runway Red, and Steel Gray.
Even on the inside, Kia spoils its customers for choice, offering four different interior trim color options on the 2023 variant, which include Charcoal, Medium Gray, Petrol, and Light Warm Gray. Of course, with an interior decor of your choice, you could sit relaxed, knowing that most everything on the center console and the inside of your 2023 Niro works towards sustainability and a better tomorrow.
