Hertz is partnering with Chevy for yet another set of custom, high-powered cars that you can rent.
Last year, Hertz partnered with Chevrolet to produce 100 Corvette Z06s that you could rent. They were a popular item, as one might expect, and after 6 months Hertz put them up for sale and gave one away as part of a contest. The ones they sold were curiously more expensive than what it would cost to buy a brand new Z06 that hadn’t already been driven half to death by a bunch of renters who didn’t have to take care of their cars.
Fast forward to today and Hertz has once again decided to bring us a high-powered Chevy to play with, but this time they’re doing things a bit differently. Rather than purchase 100 Corvettes, they’ve purchased just 2 Camaros and handed them over to Hendrick Motorsport to give them a bit of a makeover.
The first is a Camaro SS that has been given a cold-air intake and a new cat-back exhaust. This boosts the normally 455-horsepower car up to 480 horses. The second is a Camaro ZL1 that has been given a brand new supercharger for its 6.2-L V8 engine, boosting power from 650 hp to 750 hp.
Both cars are given a brand new black paint job with yellow racing stripes running down the middle. Yellow accents on the front and rear bumpers are connected by a yellow stripe that runs down the side and includes a subtle Hendrick Motorsport logo and the number 24, which is team driver William Byron's vehicle number.
There's also a plaque and some yellow-painted brake calipers along with an embroidered headrest.
You can rent either vehicle, although the ZL1 starts at $299 per day. The SS is a more affordable ride at just $99 per day, but expect both of these cars to be booked up for months.
And as with last year, Hertz is giving one away. Just enter your name, number, and email on their website and you'll be entered into the Hertz Ultimate Ride Sweepstakes. The grand prize is the Camaro SS, but runners up could get a driving experience at Charlotte Motor Speedway, a behind-the-scenes tour of the Hendrick Motorsports facilities, NASCAR hall of fame passes, or lunch with the Hendrick racing team.
