Hertz Selling Used Corvette Z06s For More Than New Corvette Price

For some reason, Hertz Rental Car thinks they can get away with selling their used Corvette Z06s for new Corvette prices.

Hertz Selling Used Corvette Z06s For More Than New Corvette Price

Hertz Rental Car is selling their 100th Anniversary Edition Corvette Z06s for more than the price of a brand new one.

We last reported on Hertz in August when they announced a special 100th Anniversary Edition Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Basically the same as a regular Z06 but with a nice yellow paint job and double black racing stripes, 100 of these Z06s were available to rent for roughly $300 per day at airports around the country.

And now, six months later, Hertz is selling them.

Why? That wasn’t made clear. Hertz has definitely made money off of these cars as they’ve been booked solid at more popular destinations like San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles since their introduction. But selling them just 6 months after their arrival does seem a little peculiar.

Even more peculiar is the price they’re charging. According to a company spokesperson speaking to Jalopnik, each one will sell for between $90,000 to $100,000, depending on the condition. And some of these cars have been driven pretty hard. At least one Z06 in San Diego has managed to clock nearly 8,000 miles in 6 months. That’s a lot.

What’s even more confusing is that the price of a brand new, un-touched Corvette Z06 is $80,900. Sure, there’s probably a bit more added for delivery, and getting the extra Bose speaker and custom leather and yellow-stitched interior would jack up the price a little, but it would still have 0 miles on the odometer instead of a few thousand.

That’s not even mentioning the fact that those 100th Anniversary Z06s have probably been driven by some people who were less than respectful of the car’s powertrain.

Hertz didn’t say when their Corvette’s would be available, just to call the nearest Hertz location and ask about it. We can’t imagine anyone who’s so enthralled with the yellow and black paint of these Z06s to pay a $10,000 premium over a brand new one, but perhaps that person is out there. Somewhere.
