With air-cooled Porsche values having climbed into the stratosphere over the past few years, the owners who actually have the courage to go out and drive their cars as Stuttgart intended, deserve more and more praise. If anyone has the gumption to drive a Porsche aggressively, Hollywood stunt driver Sera Trimble might just fit the bill. A pro with over 50 film and TV appearances on her resume, Trimble's bonafides in the industry have clearly caught the eye of Porsche's marketing team, which just pulled together a feature on her recent rallying and camping trip through Central California behind the wheel of a classic Porsche 911.

Practical Driving In A 911

Trimble drives a 911 from the era known as the "G-Series" platform, which means her car would have originally left the factory sometime between 1974 and 1989 equipped with the divisive impact bumpers and bellows front and rear. Instead, she's clearly performed some customization (or purchased the car that way), as it now sports a roll cage on the interior and a motorsport-inspired front end complete with tow hooks and a front-mounted oil cooler. Finished in red with black decals, black wheels, and black headlight trim, the car doesn't seem like an ideal carriage for camping gear—but that's just what it is.

Rallying With Friends

Trimble recently took her car on the Nacimiento-Fergusson road in the hills outside of Big Sur, packed with camping gear that somehow doesn't appear to have slowed down the group of air-cooled Porsches she was rallying with. “You head steeply up into the mountain then, and it gets tighter and tighter, turning into a single lane road that just zigzags in first and second gear for almost all of the remaining route," said Trimble. "It’s kind of gruelling [sic] and exhausting, but it’s fun if you’re with a bunch of cars that are equal in terms of performance. Everyone’s going through the gears together and the exhaustion is collective! And the reward is the ocean at the end of it.”

The Rest Of The Ride

The rest of her rallying cadre appears composed of both G-Series and classic 911 examples, a Mercedes-Benz wagon appears to have shadowed the run. Regardless, Trimble has found her 911 to be the perfect model for drives like this, both engaging and reliable. “I’ve done it in my 911 multiple years in a row now," she explained. "I’ve never driven anything else at 4,500rpm all day and not had a problem with it. For that reason alone, I find it one of the most impressive driving cars. I’ve never seen anything just chug along like a vintage Porsche does."
