If humanity needs anything right now, distraction might be at the top of the list. And what better distraction could there possibly be online than a ridiculous, completely excessive, unnecessary, overly powerful custom car build by the maniacs over at Hoonigan?

Well, it sure doesn't seem like Ken Block and his crew are anywhere near the end of the line, especially if the absurd diesel-powered Camaro that just featured in a new YouTube video is any indication. If anything, bigger and badder things lurk just beyond the horizon—just imagine what these guys are going to get up to once quarantines and lockdowns end!

Can't Stop, Won't Stop

Dubbed the "Coalmaro," this car is everything about Hoonigan culture wrapped up into one package. Is it loud? Oh yes. Powerful? You betcha. Is the build quality insanely high? Of course, as we've all come to expect from this ragtag bunch of fanatics with a passion for tire genocide. The video continues in true Hoonigan fashion, with plenty of smoke spraying everywhere and enough revs to satisfy even all those fans missing their 12,000-RPM Formula 1 fix.

Specifically, this build centers around a fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro SS and a Duramax diesel engine. With a compound turbocharger system bolted on, the whole powerplant produces a claimed 1,100 horsepower—which should be enough for its stated goal of competing in standing-mile races. Given that the car left the factory equipped with a V6, all that beef needed some serious complementary performance enhancements, which include a stripped interior, roll cage, bucket seat, and harnesses.

A side-exit exhaust and custom front bumper to house a custom cooling assembly, suspension upgrades, modified gear ratios, and sticky drag tires round out the creation. While the car is up and running, it's not quite ready for competition—but it sure sounds good. Check it out above.
