Ah, the Chevrolet Camaro – a well-loved pony car and the perpetual thorn in the side of the Ford Mustang. It won’t come back as a gasoline-engined car for the next generation if it does come back at all.

It has gotten reported that it won’t return for a seventh generation, although it isn’t unfathomable that the nameplate could simply get reused on a new platform, akin to the Ford Mustang Mach-E.

Either way, the third generation Chevy Camaro you see here is unmistakable in render form. However you feel about that version of the American hero, it’s a cool foundation for a modern overhaul.

Relentless renderer and digital artisan Rostislav Prokop wants us to believe that this could be a new high point in the Camaro’s career, and we’re inclined to believe him; but let’s unpack the render and see what’s going on with the Rostislav ’83 Camaro restomod.

It’s silky and blue like Superman’s spandex which is fitting as this third-gen Chevy Camaro comes from the same year as Christopher Reeve’s iconic Superman III feature film.

Following in the footsteps of and conserving the silhouette of the contemporary Camaro, the render adds some modern features and brings it up to date for 2022/23 – starting with all-round LEDs.

Up front, the menacing headlamps combine with an aggressive front spoiler and intakes, the hood features double-row air outlets and the sides are particularly aggressive with deep-dish gold-spoke wheels and an add-on carbon fiber side skirt.

Luckily, the car gets lowered only conservatively by car render standards, the rear pillar is thick and gives way to a rear that get adorned by a ducktail spoiler in black.

One of the highlights of this project has to be the originality applied to the rear of the car, where a decidedly-retro light panel combines LED lights with a black trunk section to great effect, similarly the set of LED brake lights in the middle below the two-piece spoiler is refreshingly-different to the ubiquitous light bar.

Indeed, you have to look to the future to move forwards, literally, so the powertrain of this car should be something modern to match the checks written by its new façade.

We would recommend going all-out and swapping-in the new available engine for the COPO Camaro – because nothing says Christmas quite like a shiny new restomod with a 9.4-liter V8 engine and body panels that remind you of Superman.
