With the likes of Tesla and other budding EV manufacturers wanting to speed up EV's mainstream adoption, electric car enthusiasts ought to know about superchargers. Tesla has recently offered other EV brands their superchargers, which means that Tesla will get financial benefits yet allow the manufacturer's customers to enjoy faster charging of their electric vehicles.

With one of the biggest fears of owning an electric vehicle being running out of power while driving down the highway, these superchargers will be more widely available across the world so that everyone can own and drive an EV with peace of mind. An EV Supercharger is simply a charger that can power up electric vehicles much quicker than a standard charger. Although the likes of Tesla have released their own at-home charging station, the Nema 14-50, it is not quite as fast as a supercharger. With a supercharger, you can swap the hours of waiting for 15 minutes. That's right, even the highest range Tesla's can fully charge in just a quarter of an hour!

So, you won't have to wait 5-11 hours. Although some people don't mind charging them throughout the day or overnight, charging it quickly is much more convenient.

A common Supercharger for EVs is Tesla's own 480-volt direct current fast-charging technology. This was announced to the EV market in 2012, just four years after their first-ever car, the Roadster. The aim was to encourage more people to purchase EVs and not worry about waiting around all day for them to charge. It certainly worked as more people than ever are interested and purchasing these rides.

Tesla is now allowing other non-Tesla manufacturers to use their superchargers, just so that more people are influenced to use electric-powered vehicles.

Should you have a certain budget and want to enjoy fast charging, you will want to know if superchargers are affordable. To install a supercharger costs anywhere from $100,000 to $680,000. Thus, you might not be considering buying one for yourself. However, they are extremely affordable to use from the charging stations.

Most Superchargers are available at selected Tesla charging stations. Although it is branded as Tesla, we now know that many other popular brands can use EV stations to enjoy fast charging.

To charge your car, it is free for selected vehicles. If your car isn't on the free-usage list, it will cost around $0.30 for one charge, which is considerably cheaper than buying fuel.

In our opinion, although not everyone can buy their own supercharger, they can still use them for little to no cost. Thanks to Tesla being generous, most of the popular EV manufacturers and their customers can use them to enjoy fast charging.
