With Formula One finally confirmed to return for 2020, the world of professional sports seems to be getting back to normal. However, the next race isn't until July 5th, so (as of writing of this) we've got nearly a month to wait.

Yes, it sucks to have F1 delayed even further than usual, yet, we're not without options for entertainment. As far as Formula One is concerned, we can still reminisce about the past; something Formula 1 themselves have utilized by broadcasting classic Grand Prix's. Along with the race itself, these 'Rewinds' remind of us the drivers who won them, like the legendary Michael Schumacher, for instance.

Though Schumacher is no longer in the public-eye, his impact is still very much present; both on the sport and his fans. We know of all his wins, pole positions, and championships, but does everyone also know of his net-worth?

Well, that's what we're here to answer. So, without delay, here is how much Michael Schumacher is worth today (2020)...

A Well-Paying Career Choice

At the highest echelons of motorsports (i.e. Formula One, NASCAR, IMSA, etc.), the drivers who put themselves in harm's way get well compensated for their efforts; much more so than rookies or lower-tier athletes. While a Formula 2 driver may PAY for a seat in the car, an F1 driver will GET PAYED to do the same (unless you're Lance Stroll).

Of course, Michael Schumacher is among the latter: a pro with deep pockets. At the high of Schumacher's career, he was making around $80 million from the prancing horse; averaging at $30 million other years. And that's just the contract, not to mention other streams of revenue.

With just those numbers alone, that puts Michael in the top-earner's of all professional athletes from 2000 to 2006 (topping Jordan and Tiger Woods at certain points).

"It's All About Who You Know"

Being a seven-time Formula 1 world champion will get you pretty noticed. In turn, you meet people, make connections, and build your portfolio to greater heights. In the sporting world, the most valuable of these 'networking opportunities' are those of brand/sponsorship deals.

Michael Schumacher had many endorsements throughout his career (and after): such as Shell, Vodafone, Marlboro, Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, and tons more. Without even having to get in the car, Michael could still make beyond half his total yearly income; upwards of $50 million from sponsorship.

At the end of the day (when you include Schumacher's F1 salaries, endorsements, investments, and other sources), he is worth more than $800 million dollars, as of late. In 2005, Eurobusiness gave him the title of "worlds first billionaire athlete."

To really put this in perspective, Schumacher made the equivalent of $8.10 per second. The website linked here shows how staggering his wealth is.

Making A Difference & Creating Smiles

When Michael Schumacher retired (for a second time) after the 2012 Formula One season, that didn't stop him from contributing to both his own wealth and that of the commonwealth. No, he continued his charitable ways.

On several occasions, Schumacher donated generously to relief funds around the world; specifically for victims of the Balkan War in 1997 and the 2004 Indian Ocean Earthquake/Tsunami. Since a close friend of the Schumacher family was killed in the resulting Tsunami, it must've been very personal for them.

Besides those instances, the Schumacher's have certainly spread their good fortune around. Today, there's the Keep Fighting initiative: dedicated to bringing fans together to honor Michael, support good causes, and (most importantly) to "never give up." This here, ladies and gentlemen, is how the ultra-rich should act.
