Ford Motor Company is one of the most prestigious automakers in the world, and it has found success by making a variety of vehicles, right from small compact hatchbacks to full-size pickup trucks. They recently launched Ford Everest, which was previously known as the Ford Endeavor in some markets and has been given a lot of styling updates and some better technology as well. The Ford Ranger and the Ford Everest are based on the same platform, but are two different vehicles with distinct body styles. The Everest is a full-sized SUV with three rows of seats, while the Ranger is a full-size pickup truck with two rows of seats and a cargo bed at the back.

The 2022 Ford Everest and the Ford Ranger have been given styling updates for the year. They also feature new technology and better safety from their predecessors. Both these vehicles are targeted towards different audiences, but share the same underpinnings. The Ranger is more formidable and more utilitarian, while the Everest is a more practical option for families.

The Ford Everest features a 50 mm wide track along with a longer wheelbase and short overhangs that result in better off-road capabilities than its predecessor. The same changes have been made to the Ranger, resulting in a 30-degree approach angle and a 25.6-degree departure angle. The Everest and the Ranger are built on the same ladder on frame chassis that is much more rugged, durable and stronger than ever before. The chassis is capable of off-roading, and the vehicle is tough when it comes to taking a beating.

The Everest also features the new four signature C-shaped LED headlamps and glare-free high beams that provide illumination at night; these are the same units found on the Ranger. The taillights of the Everest stretch from one end of the vehicle to the other, but there is no light bar connecting the ends of the tail lamps; instead, a black plastic panel is used, which houses the Everest badging of the vehicle. The Everest and the Ranger feature similar design language and align with other Ford offerings.

The interior of these vehicles is also identical and has a host of features. They have a digital instrument cluster that is either 8 inches or 12.4 inches depending on the trim and a portrait-style touchscreen with 10.1 inches on the lower trims and 12 inches on higher trims in the center stack. The Ranger and the Everest also feature a surround-view camera and various driver-assist features, including a blind-spot warning system that supports trailers close to 33 feet long and 8 feet wide.

The Everest makes use of a 3-liter Turbodiesel V6 engine that packs in a lot of punch and offers a stellar performance. The same engine does the job in the Ranger as well. Everest is offered with a 2.0-liter twin-turbocharged inline four engine and a 2.3-liter engine with a mild hybrid system. Depending on trim, the vehicle is expected to have either a 6-speed automatic or the 10-speed automated system that did the job on the previous Ranger. The towing capacity for Everest, quoted at up to 7,700 pounds, and the rooftop can support dynamic loads of up to 220 pounds and static loads of up to 770 pounds. Wading depth is a claimed 31.5 feet. The Ranger is expected to be better in these departments marginally and would also have a higher ground clearance than the Everest resulting in better wading depth.

The area where the Ranger distinguishes itself from Everest is in the cargo department. Everest has three rows of seats and can seat up to 7 people. The Ford Ranger, on the other hand, has seating for five but a massive cargo bay that can do anything and everything one expects from their pickup truck. The next-gen Ranger has a broader track providing more room between the wheel arches. One can now load a standard-sized ‘Euro’ pallet 1,200mm x 800mm in the bed. The vehicle also offers flexible seating where the front and the rear seats fold flat to carry maximum luggage. The Ranger also features around 6 12V charging outlets to juice up electronic devices. The Everest might be more suited for family trips, but the Ranger is more utilitarian and can haul much more than the Everest.

The Ford Everest has a much more luxurious and premium interior with ten-wheel drivers and adjustable passenger seats with memory function. The interior of Everest has good use of leather and lots of soft-touch materials; it also has a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, while the Ranger does not get a sunroof as an option altogether.

Ford Everest and the Ford Ranger have been unveiled for 2022 but have not yet been in production as these vehicles are still in the final testing phase of their cycle. The cars are competent and are much better than their predecessors. The more powerful powertrains are an added benefit apart from the added practicality. Everest and Ranger are expected to be two notable additions to the Ford portfolio.
