TheStradman (or James Condon) is one of the biggest YouTube sensations in the world, and he has none other than his supercars from his collection to thank for it. It’s a known fact that he is no Real Estate owner or Hollywood celebrity to be able to afford these exotic cars, but it turns out that his YouTube channel has been such a resounding success that it’s become his full-time business. TheStradman is widely recognized for his blue Bugatti Veyron, which is known to be one of the fastest cars in the world of its time. But he is also known for having purchased the Holy Trinity of hypercars: the Ferrari LaFerrari, Porsche 918 Spyder, and the McLaren P1. Condon is clearly a self-taught individual, and has specialized in a line of work that no university offers as a degree.

TheStradman can be constantly found vlogging, editing and uploading videos all by himself, and the man is so good at it, that he enjoys it and has made a lavish living out of it. Some would advise him to go and get a real job, but in all honesty, he doesn’t need one. But behind this very successful YouTuber who lives in a custom mansion, is a man who was at one time homeless, and that’s what we’re about to elaborate on.

From An Audi TT To Owning Expensive Supercars

Graham Stephan, another popular YouTuber, and a good friend of TheStradman, decides to go over to the collector’s house and interview him about his journey to success, how it all started and what keeps him going to this day.

Condon grew up with his parents and his elder brothers in a very humble home. He mentions how he has learned to be careful with money from his late father, which is one of the reasons why he’s come so far. He was taught to take the right risks but be smart about it, and does not admit that he is self-made because his parents played a part in helping him financially; he also reveals that he had a great childhood.

Condon graduated from Oregon State University with a degree in accounting and finance, but it obviously had nothing to do with what he loves most: cars. He clearly mentions that the motivation he gets from making all his money, comes from cars. Nothing else interests him, including expensive clothes and watches.

When he graduated from college, the economy saw a drop in 2011, and that meant he couldn’t get a job, so he moved back to his home to live with his parents, after which, he started a business of buying and selling cars that didn’t seem to work out. So Condon packed his bags, took his red first-gen Audi TT with him, and moved to Utah, where he landed knowing absolutely nobody, without a job and had to sleep in the car for the first night. The very next morning, he found an apartment that he leased for six months, but still had no job.

A few weeks later, he got a job that was paying him $17 an hour, where he worked for about a year or so, and this was the time he started his YouTube channel uploading exotic cars that he spotted. Now, this might sound like something anybody could do, but in TheStradman’s case, he kept at it.

When he found that he was taking on too much of a workload at his workplace, he decided to resign and move on. Soon after, he decided to live in his car, in Beverly Hills, of all places - but this turned out to be fruitful because of the luxury cars and sports cars he could spot.

He had to park his Audi about a mile away from the spot, and walk to Rodeo Drive, where he’d spend 8-12 hours walking around in the hope to spot awesome cars. In the evening, he’d step into McDonald's where he’d sit down and edit his videos - and luckily enough, he made the most of the free Wi-Fi.

The Supercars Kept TheStradman Motivated To Keep Going

There was an instance when his Audi broke down, and his mother offered to pay to get it fixed, but he refused to take help because he wanted to deal with the situation himself. He ordered a fuel pump online for $200, and fitted it by himself. He eventually got a job at a hotel, where he was getting paid $14 an hour, while he continued to pursue his YouTube dream.

An event called the Sun Valley Tour De Force was a game-changer for him. This is where he filmed six Bugatti Veyrons, one of which is the very car he owns now. However, it was the video that he came up with that saw the tables turn. He titled it “Bugatti Veyron Supersport Hits 246 mph”. It showed up on Yahoo.com, and the video gathered over a million views in just one day; the result was Condon making $5,000 to $6,000, which was a great deal for him back then.

However, he went back to Utah because he got a job, after a guy named Nick hired him. He’s extremely grateful to him, because Condon didn’t feel like he deserved the job. But as an accountant, he started making $45,000 a year, after which he saved, and bought a Lamborghini Gallardo, because he imagined his channel would get more interesting with it - and he was right. TheStradman channel took off when he posted a video, calling it, “Lamborghini at age 26: What I do for a living to afford a Lamborghini Gallardo”. He made about $20,000 from that video after it went viral. After being laid off from his job as an accountant, he focused only on making videos, and never looked back.
