We are all quite excited about the revival of the DeLorean brand. While there are surely many who hope for a new DeLorean to have a gasoline engine and not have electric power, the fact the DMC-12 is making a comeback is incredibly exciting. And now, the company has revealed another teaser of the car but this time giving us a bit of a look at the rear design, with the caption “New day. New energy.” as they look to take supercars to the next level.

What The Teaser Shows Off

The clip we see is only quite short, so we don’t have a lot of time to look at the teaser. But that is where the beauty of the pause button comes in handy. The car is now designed by Italdesign, and this revived DMC-12 has some beautiful-looking louvers that very much remind us of the source of the car’s inspiration — the original DMC-12. But of course, it isn’t a carbon copy of the original. Across the back of the new car is an LED light bar, that is very much in keeping with modern design trends on not just cars in general, but EVs in particular.

A DMC-12 For The 21st Century

While this is not the full production car, merely the concept that we will see later this year at Pebble Beach, it does show off a DMC-12 for the modern era. And we are liking what we are seeing so far. What is pleasing is that the new car will also retain the iconic gull-wing doors that the original had, something that will please fans of the original car. Of course, the PRV V6 engine is no more and instead electrical power will be at the heart of this new DMC-12, bringing it right into the 21st century.

A Much More Curvy Car

The original DMC-12 is famous for being quite boxy, of course, typical of the 1980s. However, all the teasers we have seen thus far, including this one of the new car, show a much more curvy body. There are nice round edges above the wheel fenders and across the side, much more in keeping with the design philosophy of modern supercars. More is to come from DeLorean, with the company hoping to become a fully fledged manufacturer. We will have to wait until August, 18 to see what the revived DMC-12 really looks like.
