This highly-rated Japanese model has been in production since 2015 and available on the global market since the 2017 model year. The G90 is a luxury sedan with four doors and the options of two front-engine layouts of AWD and RWD.

The G90 succeeded Hyundai's Equus with the Genesis brand, of course, being a division of Hyundai itself. As visually appealing as the Uquus was, the G90 is arguably in a different class of aesthetics, and it offers a pretty good bang for your buck. The G90 faces competition from rides such as the Mercedes-Benz S Class, Audi S8, BMW 7-Series, and Mercedes-AMG S63/S65.

But what about 2022? How will the G90 evolve, and what should you know about the Genesis G90 model in general? Let's take a closer look.

How Genesis Have Improved The G90 For 2022

First and foremost, as you might expect, Genesis have enhanced the technology of the G90 for the new model year. Their navigation system now comes with over-the-air map updates which adds to the existing over-the-air updates offered with the ride's 12.3" infotainment display.

The 2022 model year also receives new 19" alloy wheels for certain trims as well as changes to the ride's driver-assist features that have been either updated or added as brand new options entirely. Otherwise, this full-size luxury vehicle remains largely the same as the 2021 edition.

Starting prices for the Genesis G90 stands at just under $74,000 for the 3.3T RWD, rising to $76,450 for the 3.3T AWD, $77,700 for the 5.0 RWD, and it will cost at least $80,200 for customers to buy the 5.0 AWD.

Performance Of The Genesis G90

The G90 continues to exhume luxury with its slick styling and high-end design; it is not quite in Mercedes-Benz' territory, but for a starting MSRP of $73,950 (according to Genesis), it offers good value for money.

There are four trims to choose from, namely, the 3.3T RWD, 3.3T AWD, 5.0 RWD, and the 5.0 AWD. The numbering in each case refers to the displacement of the available powertrain. Starting with the 3.3T editions, by availing of either RWD or AWD, you get 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. As for the 5.0-liter versions, you would enjoy 420 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque by selecting either of these variants.

As for fuel economy, buyers of either of the 3.3Ts will enjoy 17 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway, while those who opt for the 5.0 RWD or 5.0 AWD trims will get 16 mpg in the city and 24 on the highway, so, as you can see, the difference in fuel economy between all of these rides is minimal. You can configure and order the 2022 Genesis G90 today via the Japanese automaker's website.

There's a gorgeous array of colors to choose from for both the exterior and interior. Looking at the outside, some notable examples include Tasman Blue, Savile Silver, Himalayan Gray, and Gold Coast Silver. Selecting an exterior color adds $500 to your total bill.

This flagship vehicle is well-designed externally, albeit the luxury does not stop there.

The Interior Design Represents True Luxury For A Decent Price

There is something simple but elegant about the interior of the G90. It does not scream Mercedes opulence, but it certainly does not fall into the category of a budget luxury design either. The G90's interior comprises rich materials such as brushed metal, Nappa leather, and suede, along with a sophisticated touch of wooden components.

Perhaps, the créme de la créme of the interior is the Genesis 22-way adjustable driver seat with Smart Posture Care. Incredibly, this seat employs multi-adjustable settings to create the most ergonomic seating for you based on your physical profile. Beyond that, the smart technology onboard the G90 can also adjust your external mirror, steering wheel, as well as the heads-up display to best suit you. Starting to feel like we're in the future, right?

Another notable quality of the Genesis G90 is its sound insulation. The design of this car significantly limits road noise thanks to its triple-sealed doors and dual-pane insulated acoustic glass. This only adds to the luxurious feel of this sedan.

Interestingly you can also open the trunk hands-free. With a key fob on you (whether in purse or pocket, for example), the trunk will open by itself, making it super accessible.

Looking a little more at that infotainment display now, the 12.3-inch touchscreen gives you total access to important and relevant data such as real-time traffic. You get an HD Radio service subscription for free with the G90. With the 5.0 trims, there are also two 10.3" HD screens on the rear of both front seats for the passengers in the back to enjoy the journey, perfect for a long family trip to another part of the country.

You also get some high-quality accessories for no extra cost with the Genesis G90, specifically premium floor mats, premium cargo mat, and a first aid kit. All in all, there's a lot to like about the 2022 Genesis G90 and it will be interesting to see whether it will compete that bit better with its rivals for the new model year.
