Hyundai has greenlit production for its Prophecy Concept, according to Auto Express. The stunning retro-inspired car will follow in the path of the 45 Concept, which the company also announced would be coming into production, and will add to the South Koren automaker’s new lineup of vehicles. It is expected that the forthcoming Prophecy will become the second-generation Hyundai Ioniq.

It didn’t take long for Hyundai to confirm the news about their plans to put the new Prophecy into production. The South Korean automaker’s Vice President and Head of Hyundai Global Design Center, SangYup Lee, stated, "There will be a production version of the Prophecy coming after a production version of the 45 concept." By the looks of it, Hyundai seems ready to leap into the next generation of autos quicker than many would have anticipated.

Hyundai debuted its retro-inspired EV 45 Concept back at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. The vehicle was influenced by Hyundai’s 1974 Pony Coupe concept. The car is of the hatchback-meets-crossover variety and will feature an all-electric model that uses Hyundai’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). That EV platform will also be found in the next generation Kona EV as well as the company’s other electric vehicles. The E-GMP will also underpin the forthcoming Prophecy.

It shouldn’t be long till the 45 concept makes its official debut on the market. The vehicle is expected to be unveiled before the end of the year. The Prophecy, meanwhile, is estimated to make its own debut about a year later, getting its unveiling in late 2021. Hyundai is also expected to let its design choices differ across its lineup, which will make for a less standardized look across the board.
