Drifting can be very enjoyable especially if the experience is shared by the driver and up to seven passengers. The Australian arm of Hyundai thought out of the box and converted one of its vans into a drifting machine. Dubbed the Hyundai iMax N Drift Bus, this tire-burning van is a pleasurable sight.

Starting out as a typical Hyundai iMax, the Hyundai iMax N Drift Bus has what it takes to be a true drifting van. It does that while allowing eight people to experience true drifting satisfaction. Yes, the driver and seven passengers can get wild as they are easily transported from point A to point B.

As Hyundai Australia puts it, the Hyundai iMax N Drift Bus is a special one-off custom creation that takes inspiration from the mischievous spirit of N, the brand's performance division. It also clarified that iMax N Drift Bus is neither a production model nor road car. It noted that the iMax N Drift Bus was created to show its passion for exhilarating vehicles.

To create the iMax N Drift Bus, a team assembled by Hyundai Australia swapped the 2.5-liter CRDi four-cylinder turbo diesel engine of the iMax with a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 mill. As tuned, the V-6 unit is capable of delivering over 402 hp and 410 lb.-ft. of torque (300 kW and 555 Nm). These figures are powerful enough to send this creation sprinting from nil to 62 mph in around 5 seconds.

The V-6 engine sends power to the rear wheels of the Hyundai iMax N Drift Bus via an in-house developed eight-speed automatic transmission linked to a corner carving differential. The iMax N Drift Bus also boasts a bi-modal exhaust for a drift-engaging sound.

Providing further boost are electronically controlled dampers for the suspension, as well as N performance upgraded brakes. The Hyundai iMax N Drift Bus rides on 19-inch alloy wheels and performance tires found on the Hyundai i30 N.

The Hyundai iMax N Drift Bus is able to achieve a 50-50 front-rear weight distribution with eight people in their seats. The driver and passenger will enjoy sporty front seats with suede inserts and leather bolsters, while those in the second and third rows are accommodated on bench seats trimmed in matching suede and leather.

We do understand that the Hyundai iMax N Drift Bus eats rubber more than a typical iMax should, so bringing spare tires for drifting runs is essential. This shouldn’t pose a problem as the iMax N Drift Bus offers cargo space of up to 842 liters.

Finished in N Performance Blue exterior paint, the Hyundai iMax N Drift Bus also features a front splitter, side skirts, and rear spoiler with brake light, as well as a rear diffuser and bumper.
