The stats are clearly defined; Hennessey Mammoth 6X6 or 4X4 are the fastest and most powerful pickup trucks in the world today.

Coming straight from the horse’s mouth - John Hennessey - founder and CEO of Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE) said, "Everything we do at Hennessey Performance is turned up to 11 but the Mammoth 1000 6x6 is definitely turned up to 12! Everything on the Mammoth 6x6 is bigger, badder, and more imposing – plus, it's still super-fast while being a total powerhouse off-road. It's the undisputed king of the road."

The undisputed king of the road is the perfect description of the immensely powerful Hennessey Mammoth 1000. HPE first announced plans for the limited edition TRX in 2020, with production kicking off the following year. Considering that HPE planned to create the monster based on the Dodge RAM TRX, we could almost hear the collective gasp of apprehension from underlings like the Ford Raptor, Roush Ford F150 Nitemare, or even the Hennessey Ford F150 Venom 775 and Hennessey Jeep Gladiator Maximus.

If you take offense to us dropping these big names as "underlings", we have no doubt you’ll have a rethink after coming face-to-face with the TRX. Let's do it.

Mammoth Means Big, Powerful, And Comfortable

As mentioned earlier, the gargantuan Hennessey Mammoth 1000 is based on the 2021 Ram 1500 TRX, the truck that significantly moved the boundaries of what a pickup truck can do on-road and off-road. True to John’s words, Mammoth is impressively imposing, enough for us to decide the Texas-based aftermarket tuning house should’ve dropped the TRX and called the hypertruck DRX, short for Indominus Rex.

It made sense that Chrysler named the RAM 1500 after the Tyrannosaurus Rex (TRX) as a salute to the truck's scarily powerful 6.2L Hemi V8 HELLCAT engine that could churn out 702 horses and 650 pound-force feet of torque, allowing it to tow and haul like no one’s business. That’s impressive, just as T-Rex was an impressive beast. But to borrow John Hennessey’s words, the Mammoth 1000 is bigger and badder, just like the Indominus Rex was bigger and badder.

A mammoth 228.9 inches of length, 82.1 inches of width, and 77.6 inches of height makes for an intimidating presence as fitting for the undisputed king of the road.

Mammoth also means powerful, just as DRX was veritably powerful. Here’s another reason DRX is a more fitting designation for the Hennessey Mammoth 1000. This is the only pickup in the world that can complete the quarter-mile run in 11.4 seconds. It did that vrooming at excess of 120 mph. The truck features an upgraded version of the RAM 1500's powerplant; a 6.2L supercharged Hellcat V8 motor that makes 1,012 horses.

Thus, Mammoth 1000 is essentially a performance-oriented TRX RAM.

The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission for permanent 4-wheel-drive power delivery. The truck can make the 0 to 60 mph sprint in a wind-splitting 3.2 seconds, whereas its mother – the RAM TRX – could make the time in 4.5 seconds in Sports Mode. That makes Hennessey Mammoth 1000, not just faster than its mom but also the fastest pickup truck in the world, boasting 969 pound-force feet of torque.

And they named Mammoth 1000 the TRX, ignoring that where T-REX inflicted a 17,000lbf bite power using its 12-inch D-shaped serrated teeth, Indominus Rex possessed a larger head and croc-like teeth perfect for holding onto prey. The Hennessey Mammoth effortlessly turns peers to prey with the help of its high-flow 2.6L supercharger, fuel injectors, and high-flow induction system alongside performance-boosting calibration.

To quote John again, this is "the most powerful pickup truck that Hennessey Performance has ever offered. The Ram TRX already boasts the highest horsepower of any vehicle manufacturer's pickup, so our performance, styling, and off-road enhancements make this the most formidable new truck you can buy. We've already sold more than 100 trucks, with each answering one big question – why have a 1,000-horsepower pickup truck? Because we can!”

Yes, "Mammoth" inspires the "yes we can" kind of confidence. That sizeable confidence is promoted by the ample interior capable of sitting six adults comfortably and a payload exceeding 1,310 lbs. If the RAM 1500 TRX could tow up to 8,100 lbs, and possess a maximum trailer weight of 5,000 lbs, imagine what the bigger and badder Indominus Rex can do.

Besides the powertrain, HPE’s creation features interior and exterior upgrades along with accouterments such as LED lights, 20-inch ten-spoke wheels wrapped in 35-inch off-road tires, a front suspension leveling system, a retractable electronic bed cover to keep your rear cargo secure, electronic fold-out steps, and a 2.5-inch lift kit.

Hennessey may not have said much about interior upgrades, but customers can be sure of- at least - the tuning house’s unique badging to set them apart from the regular. It’s like John said, "The RAM 1500 TRX is exciting in stock configuration, but I'm seeking extraordinary. The MAMMOTH 1000 upgrades completely transform this impressive pickup into something astonishingly powerful, visually exciting, and indisputably unique."

How Much Is The Hennessey Mammoth 1000, And How Do You Order One?

$375,000; that's how much you should set aside if you are gunning for one of the 200 Hennessey Mammoth 1000 slated for production. However, the company explained that most owners have to take a highly-specified stock model and then add the Hennessey performance package offered in Stage 1 (powertrain upgrades) and Stage 2 (off-road enhancement) Pkgs.

The Stage 2 Pkg is where you get the custom bumpers, LED lights, a front leveling kit, 37-inch off-road tires, and upgraded electronic fold-out steps, all of which come with a 2-year (or 24,000-mile) warranty. Going this route will set you back $135,350 for the turnkey cost of the Hennessey Mammoth 1000. This price does not include delivery.

Now that you’ve met the new apex predator of the truck world, do you still think we were wrong to call the others underlings?
