Ineos, known for being a chemical company, will now sell a very special SUV, the Ineos Grenadier. With a very rustic shape and body on frame structure, the Grenadier aims to reach regions where off-roading is more than a lifestyle. This SUV is very utilitarian as it combines a boxy shape heavily inspired by the Classic Land Rover Defender with robust lines to show that design and elegance is not their primary focus. The focus is the Grenadier's off-roading capabilities. This SUV will try to take over the position that belonged to the former Defender, as a more purist and less technological proposal compared to the current Land Rover SUV.

When JLR refused to sell him the designs and machinery for the production of the old Defender, Sir Jim Ratcliffe created Ineos Automotive and hired a team to develop this new project, including Magna Steyr, from Graz, Austria. Ineos' first automotive product is the Grenadier. The model's name came from Ratcliffe's favorite pub, which is in the Belgravia region of London. Revealed 18 months before the launch, Ineos bets on tests "in plain sight" to promote the product and attract customers.
