Some supercars became famous as legends, such as the record-breaking Bugatti Chiron. Some supercars, however, became famous for the wrong reasons, like breaking down and catching fire during test drives by a celebrated automotive TV show.

The supercar referred to here is the Zenvo ST1, which broke down and caught fire while Top Gear was driving it on track. YouTuber Shmee150 was able to spot this certain example housed in a private collection in Assens, Denmark.

Shmee150 Goes To Denmark For His TSR-S

As to why Shmee150 – a.k.a. Tim Burton in real life – was in Denmark, he was actually paying a visit to Zenvo Automotive’s production base in Præstø. Shmee150 placed an order for a new Zenvo TSR-S, so he was visiting Denmark to see the assembly of his new supercar. Essentially a road-legal version of the track-focused Zenvo TSR, the TSR-S comes with a 5.8-liter twin-supercharged V8 delivering 1,177 hp. It can zoom from zero to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds, and reach a top speed of 202 mph.

On his way to Zenvo, Shmee150 stopped by the Strøjer Collection in Assens, which is around 100 miles to the west of Præstø. The Strøjer Collection is one of the more famous collections of cars in the world. It is not open to the public, however, since it’s a private collection with more than 100 exceptional cars. The collection currently includes Formula 1 race cars, classic vehicles, and hypercars.

Being in Denmark, the Strøjer Collection is also home to some of Zenvo’s supercars, including the ST1. Zenvo launched production of the ST1 in 2009, for a run of just 15 examples until 2016. The Strøjer Collection in Denmark takes pride in owning chassis #5 ST1, which comes wrapped in Bring orange paint finish.

Just like all ST1 examples, this orange model comes with a twin-charged 7.-liter LS7 V8 engine delivering 1,089 hp of output and 1,055 lb-ft of peak torque. It can sprint to 62 mph in 3.0 seconds, and reach a top speed of 233 mph. But Top Gear wasn’t impressed with the ST1 for three main reasons: condensation was forming over the rear light; the brakes and clutch gave in, and the supercar caught fire.

Zenvo ST1 Survives, Now With Strøjer Collection

While the bad review definitely hurt Zenvo, the carmaker didn’t stop. It remains healthy and is currently building Shmee150’s first hypercar. As for the ST1 Chassis #5, it received a full restoration and is now part of the private Strøjer Collection.
