What do you get when you combine a luxury car brand that few can afford and combine it with a special edition car with a very, very limited production run? In case of the Lamborghini SVJ Xago, pure insanity.

More on the name later, but be sure, this is going to be one of those cars you don’t see on the roads much, unless you're lucky. And once you do see it, jaws will drop, eyes will pop, and you may wonder whether you're living in a sci-fi movie.

Not only is the SVJ Xago priced higher than the “normal” and “not-so-special” Lamborghinis, but the limited production run may also only raise its value as a collectible, years down the line.

And yes, everything about it is better, more advanced, a lot more gorgeous, and of course, very exclusive. So here are ten facts about the SVJ Xago and why it slays.

10 What’s In A Name? Well, For The Xago, A Lot

The SVJ Xago isn’t quite a name you’d associate with a car. SVJ stands for Superveloce Jota, and in Italian superveloce means superfast. The Jota comes from the Spanish language and stands for the letter J, and references Appendix J of the FIA racing handbook as an ode. The Xago bit comes from a geometric shape, as in a hexagon and it is a hexagon-heavy design inside and out. Why, well, scroll through and we’ll give you an answer to that as well.

9 The Inspiration Is Equally OTT

Why hexagons? Sure, it's cool to like a shape, but one doesn't make a pricey car just because the engineers or the powers that be like it, right? So Lamborghini does have valid inspiration, though it's a bit out there. There are hexagon cloud shapes on the North Pole of Saturn, and no, we did not know that before. Plus Lamborghini believes there is a lot of strength in hexagons existing in nature, much like a beehive, and so the Xago was conceived.

8 The Paint Also Carries The Geometric Theme Forward

Hexagons are prevalent in Lamborghini, and they even have a special name for it ‘hegaxonita’. This hexagonal theme is also present in the Lamborghini hybrid Sián, a 63-limited production run car whose name means lightning. Meanwhile, the SVJ Xago does not only resemble a Hexagon but even the paint carries forward the theme in silver patterns that fade in and out. And not just that, the customer gets to choose the paint colors if even they cannot choose the geometric patterns and have to stick with hexagons.

7 The Theme Carries Into The Interiors As Well

Whoever goes for this very exclusive car better like hexagons. Like a lot. Because, if the shape of the car as well as the name and paint aren’t enough to firmly entrench the hexagon theme into the mind of the owner, there are hexagons all over the interiors. The seats are hexagon themed with contrast color accents that match the exteriors, and everything, other than the hexagons, can be customized by the prospective owner. And what’s even cooler is that to buy this car, you do not have to step out of the comfort of your home, which is awesome considering the current pandemic.

6 The Very, Very Limited Production

We mentioned that the Lamborghini SVJ Xago is available in a very limited run. So limited that it's only in double digits, and it’s the lowest double-digit at that. Only 10 of these insanely hexagonal-themed cars will be built which is driving the perfectionist in us up the wall because six or even multiples of six would have been a far better choice. It’s a Xago, right, not a Cago (from the decagon)! Of course, if you miss the Xago, there’s always the normal Lamborghini Aventador SVJ to go for, which is still a Nürburgring lap time record holder.

The Xago is a hexed or rather hexagon-ed SVJ, pun intended. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ still holds the production car lap record at Nürburgring; by rocketing around the 12.9-mile Nordschleife in a mind-boggling 6:44.97, a whole two seconds faster than the Porsche 911 GT2 RS that held the previous record. The SVJ and the SVJ Xago has a fantastic 6.5-liter V12 that makes 759 horses (29 ponies more than the standard Aventador), and Lambo is confident it can go 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds at top speeds of 217 mph.

4 The Price Has To Be Very Exclusive

The Price Has To Be Very Exclusive
via Motor1

When you make such an exclusive car that only nine more people can have, besides you, and it's so odd that it’s fantastic, the price has to be OTT too. The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ in itself is priced well above $500,000. The most expensive of these is the SVJ Roadster and it starts at $577,000 or thereabouts. So when you add in extreme customization and lots of little hexagons, the price may go up a lot as well. The 10-car limited production run of the SVJ Xago may ensure its price goes sky high as a collectible as the years pass, so there’s that attraction too.

The Lamborghini Aventador in itself is a fantastic car. And then there is the added engine burst trim of the Aventador SVJ. Now to take something that’s already exclusive and make it stand out from the crowd using nothing more than geometry and a special edition run of 10, makes the SVJ Xago a very unique hypercar, and perhaps all the more vaunted for it. The concept is OTT but that’s where the attraction lies because just any old hypercar won’t do for those with a ton of money, looking for exclusivity.

To get this very exclusive, very pricey and very, very odd car, you don’t have to go to Italy, though frankly, why wouldn’t you want to? The perfect foil to today’s world where staying put at home is the best bet till the time the COVID-19 vaccine is out and you get a shot, Lamborghini has made the ordering and customization of the SVJ Xago virtual. Of course, the car will still have to come to you and your money will still have to go to them but for everything else, there’s Lambo’s virtual studio at hand.

The SVJ Xago can only be ordered through Lambo’s all-new Ad Personal virtual customization program that it had launched way back in 2013 at a time where traveling was no issue. The studio was opened in 2016 and more than 50% of Lambo’s cars today do carry at least one feature of the program. The state of the current world is the perfect time for Lambo to strike while it's still hot and the Xago may ensure that the Ad Personam virtuality kicks off in massive style.
