The Jaguar F-Type is probably the best car Jaguar have produced in a long time. Since then, Jaguar have created an improved version of the car, with most of these improvements coming in the form of performance upgrades and tweaks.

Everything from chassis and aero changes to infotainment has been altered to make an already good car great. This makes it incredibly competitive in the category of current GT cars, and this is shown especially in the level of its interior and the price. Below are some things we love about the Jaguar F-Type SVR.

10 Top Speed And Acceleration

The regular F-Type is a fast enough machine, the SVR improves on this formula somewhat, making this version of the Jag even better than the original, and this of course includes its performance.

This Jaguar is exceptionally quick despite its relatively modest exterior. The car is capable of achieving speeds upwards of 200 mph with a 0-60 mph time possible in just 3.5 seconds, making it one of the top performers in the whole Jaguar lineup. Not only this, the SVR is actually the first Jaguar since the legendary XJ220 to achieve a 200 mph plus top speed.

9 The Engine

Those speeds wouldn't be possible without the engine at the heart of the Jag, and in this case, the power is nothing short of monstrous.

The F-Type is powered by a 5.0-liter supercharged V8, which gives the Jag an old school feel compared to the V12 powered GT cars often found in this category, such as the DB11 V12 and the V12 Bentley Continental. Total power output comes to 567 hp, making it more than powerful enough for any type of driving.

8 The Exhaust And Sound

Having a V8 usually makes for a great-sounding car, and this is certainly the case with the F-Type. The combination of the updated exhaust and the high-powered V8 make for an incredible noise.

The Jaguar has been fitted with a re-tuned titanium exhaust, producing an incredibly aggressive sound. The car may potentially be one of the best sounding cars in the GT car category, although ironically, an aggressive and loud tone is often the opposite of what you'd want in a grand tourer.

7 Exterior Styling

The styling of the base F-Type is a brilliant combination of sporty and elegant, with only subtle nods to the car's racier nature. The SVR, on the other hand, moves the scales more in favor of the sporty with a number of updated visual and performance changes.

The first and most obvious is the addition of a carbon fiber rear wing, but there's also some added SVR badging and carbon fiber pieces on both the exterior and interior, further enhancing the sports nature of the SVR model.

6 Interior Styling

The interior is exquisite in classic Jaguar fashion. It's nothing but high quality materials and exceptional build quality. It's an excellent display of what GT cars are all about, as it has a perfect balance of sport and style.

Once you move past the SVR badging and carbon fiber elements, the interior actually doesn't appear all that sporty, which is a good thing in this car's case as it makes it feel that much more premium and luxurious all round. This isn't a 'knock-off Aston Martin', which is often a criticism of the Jaguar sports cars as they are regularly viewed as the poor man's Aston, the SVR is a perfect example of why this is untrue.

5 Improvements Over Base Model

It should be obvious that the SVR isn't just a different version of the F-Type, but actually an improved version of the base car. There are small changes all around, making it a refined and improved version of an already great car.

For starters, the car weighs around 100-lbs less than the standard F-Type and this is in part down to the updated exhaust, as mentioned earlier, which is around 35-lbs lighter. The carbon ceramic brakes and aluminum forged wheels also reduce a further 65 lbs or so from the total weight. These upgrades also obviously help with handling the power of the SVR, especially with the aero improvements.

4 Comfort And Practicality

Despite its sporty exterior and race nature, the Jaguar is still a GT car at heart and the interior, as we've seen, is a clear indicator of this. The car needs to provide exceptional comfort for long road trips and for those who intend to use the car as a daily driver.

The quilted leather seats should be more than comfortable, as well as the leather steering wheel. The rear should provide plenty of space too for storing luggage on those trips away and is certainly competitive when compared to similar vehicles.

3 Handling

The handling is one of the most important areas to get right on the Jag, especially given the amount of power the car puts down. This 500 plus hp the car produces needs to be properly supported to ensure good control and feel.

Although the car isn't in the same category as more track focused cars like a Porsche GT3 or a Huracán, the AWD system employed by the SVR provides excellent grip as well as the improved chassis with new dampers and anti roll bars. This helps the Jaguar perform admirably, despite it being more of a daily driver vehicle than a track monster.

2 Tech

The tech included on the Jag is also pretty plentiful, the most improved area overall however is the car's infotainment system which has seen a vast improvement over the standard F-Type's system being much more responsive and with a crisper picture.

Elsewhere, the car features one of the most interesting additions to any car in the form of an app which allows you to download footage to a smartphone from the GoPro camera attached to the car, even showing performance data from the car with speed, throttle position, gear selection, and G-force.

1 The Price

JagFTYPESVRCoupeStudio17021640
source: Jaguar Newsroom

The price of the SVR makes it incredibly competitive, especially since the car is a great all-rounder. Few cars are as versatile as the Jaguar and although the car isn't exactly cheap, it is certainly still great value.

JagFTYPESVRCoupeStudio17021639

At around $135,000 (MSRP), the Jaguar is in the same price bracket as cars like the GT-R Nismo and the 911 Turbo. Although these are great cars in their own right, they aren't realistically any quicker than the Jaguar, and they certainly don't offer the level of interior comfort presented with the F-Type SVR.
