For Jaguar, the F-Pace crossover/SUV is the gift that keeps on giving. The handsome ute accounted for fully 50% of the brand’s sales last year, and Jaguar does not want to mess with a winning formula. All the same, the SUV will have been around for nearly 4 years later this year and it is time to freshen things up a bit, especially in light of the increasingly stiff competition in the ever-crowded crossover segment. So right on cue, Jaguar’s new 2021 F-Pace was caught during its winter testing program.

Although heavily camouflaged, there were several discernible changes on the test mule compared to the current F-Pace. The shape of the headlights and front fascia seem to have evolved and the rear end, including the exhaust openings, tail lights and bumpers are also refreshed. The overall shape is quite similar to the current model, and the changes  are obviously more evolutionary since the SUV was already one of the more alluring crossover shapes out there, and judging by its sales, customers tend to agree.

The More Things Change...

There are no spy photos providing us with clues as to the reconfigured interior of this cat since most of the inside was well-disguised, but there are certain things we can surmise. Most likely, a version of Jaguar’s dual touchscreen infotainment setup that’s currently in the electric I-Pace will be featured as the centerpiece.

As for the powertrain, again there is much conjecture and uncertainty until Jaguar actually unveils the vehicle later this year. The current forced induction 4, 6 and 8-cylinder choices may or may not remain, and there is a strong likelihood that at least a mild hybrid system will make its appearance in the refreshed F-Pace.

If this athletic crossover is to maintain its healthy sales numbers and continue to propel the Jaguar brand deep into the new decade, the updated F-Pace needs to improve upon the solid foundation that the original has laid. From what we can gather, both of these achievements should be fully within reach.
