Fans of Jay Leno's Garage often treat themselves to what the former talk show host possesses in his gargantuan facility just outside Los Angeles. But occasionally, he makes allowance for other celebs to show off their four-wheeled toys.

One episode saw rocker Rick Springfield flaunt his powder-blue Corvette; another episode featured country singer Keith Urban parading around in his 2011 Pagani Huayra. But in a video released Friday, Leno visited actor, James Brolin, who wanted to show the YouTuber something far earthier and much more vintage, namely an original 1937 Ford pickup restored to look as new as the time it first hit the road the same year the Hindenburg airship blew up.

Pickup V8 Generates 85 Horsepower

Brolin's got a beauty on his hands with this pickup, worth roughly $30,000 these days. The rear-wheel drive truck sports a 3.6-liter V-8, kicking out roughly 85 horsepower. As for amenities like power steering, forget it. If this is Brolin's chief ride these days, it's no wonder why his huge biceps are no accident.

One might expect Brolin to show up with something more luxurious, given that the actor's celebrity cachet went through the roof when he married decidedly the more uptown singer and actor Barbra Streisand in 1998. But it turns out cars, especially more salt-of-the-earth American models, are more Brolin's thing than fancy Lambos. After all, this is the same guy who starred in The Car, a '70s indie flick about a possessed Lincoln Mark II that terrorized a desert township.

This Ford Ain't Fast

As Brolin takes Leno for a ride, the old Ford obviously doesn't boast much in terms of speed. And Brolin has to exert a bit in steering, shifting and hitting the pedals. Still, the pickup offers enough of a smooth ride to enable the two to chew the fat over Brolin's acting career, including his first big break playing a Triumph-riding doctor in the '70s medical drama Marcus Welby, M.D.

"I had a Triumph myself," said Brolin about his motorcycle, which enticed the show's producers to get a similar bike for the show. "So, when I read the pilot, it was because of what I had, so that's what they got."

Short Ride In This Pickup

Leno's impressed over the ride, which mercilessly seems short. At the end of the jaunt, Brolin, who's also a licensed pilot, offers his famous passenger a ride in one of his planes for a future meet.

"Yeah, that'll happen real soon," responded Leno sarcastically.
