Jay Leno is a man that really needs no introduction. The former late night TV host has, in recent years, turned his whole focus onto showcasing his collection of cars, and showing off cars in general. He has his CNBC show Jay Leno’s Garage as well as a YouTube channel of the same name where he shows off many of his classic cars. It is for the former TV show where he has had to step in to avoid a minor disaster, while filming a segment for the show with rock legend Rick Springfield and his Chevrolet Corvette.

A Classic Lexus And Chevrolet With Two Stars

It feels every bit like a Jay Leno story, with classic cars and rock stars. For a segment of the show, as reported by The Daily Mail, Jay had driven his modified Lexus IS 300 to meet up with Rick at Neptune’s restaurant in Malibu and Rick had brought along his classic Chevrolet Corvette in a stunning Powder blue. The pair had briefly jumped into one another's rides and had parked to exchange notes. Yet while they were getting ready to have a chat, disaster nearly struck—that is, before Jay Leno acted quickly to save the day.

Jay Leno's Quick Thinking Saved Both Cars

As Rick stood by his car, the Lexus started to creep forward without the parking brake engaged. Noticing this, Jay leaped in front of the Lexus to halt its course and prevent it from hitting the Corvette. It wouldn’t be good if either car got scratched up! Rick promptly jumped in the direction of the Lexus and put on the parking brake so the pair could breathe a sigh of relief. A video captured the incident seen from across the street.

The Lexus Could Be A Recent Leno Acquisition

The Lexus hasn’t been seen before but it is probably a recent acquisition by Jay, and will no doubt feature on his YouTube channel at some point as well. With disaster averted, the two took it in their stride and set about having a chat and finishing off what they had come to Malibu for, with neither car scratched or dented and able to rest in the glorious sunshine. It’s a good job that the Lexus wasn’t able to gain any momentum before Jay spotted the runaway IS 300!
